Unfortunately, we do have one on the list! Troy Edwards comes in at #9. The interesting thing about this top ten list is that it lists some other great NFL players that we coulda had with that 13th overall pick. Just shows how important the skill of talent assessment is. Wasting #1's can set your franchise back for years and tends to have a domino effect in the years afterwards.

Here's to hoping that Tomlin and Colbert get it right on April 28th and 29th!

Exactly Tomlin/Colbert have to hit a homerun in the first round. But the Steelers have done that in the first round for the most part in the last years or so.

Its the rest of the draft the Steelers have to do well especially on the 2nd day of the draft. Cowhers/Colberts draft picks on the 2nd day the last few years have really stunk lately.

our second day picks suck because we are a full team and cowher was afraid to hurt feelings by letting a 6th round pick play over a vet....jmo

At least santonios gonna be a badass for us...lol

With the 9 picks we get in this years draft, lets face it, if 6 out of the 9 picks made the opening day roster I would consider that an outstanding draft! :yesnod:

Thats why trading up in round 1 or 2 might be good idea since 9 picks won't make the team.

Interesting read... Edwards was a bust, the Steelers have had their share of misses on draft day.

Jermaine Stephens, Huey Richardson, Jeremy Staat, Alonzo Jackson, Scott Sheilds, Kris Ferris, and Fred Gibson... come to mind.

I have a bad feeling we are gonna be able to add Colclough to that list...

Santana Moss (Round 1), Reggie Wayne (Round 1), Chris Chambers (Round 2), Chad Johnson (Round 2), Steve Smith (Round 3), T.J. Houshmandzadeh (Round 7).

I don't think they have to hit a homerun. They more or less have to (or probably will) draft a play who "fits the system". I do agree that strength of this draft has to or will be in the late rounds. Those late round picks are more important than people think.

It amazes me the 'notables' that were available as choices.. not just the WR notables, but the others as well.

Just shows you college studs don't mean **** in the NFL. It's a crap shoot, lol.

Haha I thought Fred Gibson was going to be good.........

As did I. He was a stud at Georgia. :dunno:

I decided to do a little honorable mention 2003 and before .

2003- Arizona 16th overall Bryant Johnson 164 - 2147 - 9...bustage and his stats will never get to where a first rounder should be getting because if he isnt off the the Cards he'll be 3rd man for a long time

2001- Washington 15th overall Rod Gardner 242 -3165 -23 ...career pretty much over and being a first rounder you should last this little

2000- Kansas City 21st overall Sylvester Morris 48 - 678 - 3

They definitely got the #1 bust right. Charles Rogers, he's fragile and he likes his drugs. :hilarious:

Didn't we trade up to get Fred Gibson because Cowher was so high on him ? :nonod: In fact the worst thing about everyone on that list, is that they were all highly regarded by Cowher and guys that we targeted as something special. :banging:
