View Full Version : Staley

I don't really think it's fair to say Staley lost 3 on that 4th and 1. He never even had a chance to move on that play because the line was pathetic.
I did see some runs where it didn't look like he was running hard though.

Duce not delivering

Halfback Willie Parker played just one series, then bowed out for the rest of the night. Duce Staley replaced him on the second series.
The Steelers have been disappointed in Staley this summer. He did not report to training camp in the kind of shape they hoped he would, and he lost a chance to take over the role Jerome Bettis held the past two years as the goal-line halfback. Cowher said Wednesday that he likely would stay with Parker on the goal line.
"Duce is working himself back into running shape," Cowher said as the team's 31/2-week training camp came to an end.
Staley ran six times for 18 yards in the first half. On their first offensive series of the second half, the Steelers pitched him the ball wide to the right on fourth-and-1 at the Eagles' 36 and he lost 3. He had 11 carries for 21 yards for the game.

In his defense the OL wasn't protecting or opening up running lanes for anybody pretty much all night...however when you're on the brink like he is and you need to make a statement you need to give it your best shot and I agree he didn't look like the same Duce that drags tacklers and runs north & south.

i've defended this dude for two years and almost all of preseason lol. but as the late owen hart said, enough is enough and it's time for a change.....he is just garbage. he is slower as hell. he just doesn't have it in him anymore. and that ring he got for free probably made it worse. he's probably satisfied with what he's done in his career. it's just no fair that he gets free money and others that actually come to camp in shape and bust their asses off get the boot.

He should up to camp fat and over weight, that fat S.O.B. Bettis just retired, we won the SB, how much more motivation do you need, that FatS.O.B. He owes us , I`m tired of seeing his fat @$$ getting $$$$$$ from the Steelers, just so he can sit on the sidelines like a Fat SOB. I`m done with Staley! Done.

I think Staley will be cut. As Koopa said enough is enough. Time to move on without him.

I've tried defending Staley this preseason as well but I'm starting to feel like koopa! I saw some old glimpses of Staley in the Eagles game, but for the most part I wasn't impressed. At times it seemed like he was really trying to be like the Bus, doing all of the sweet dance moves trying to make defenders miss rather than just lowering his head and bowling the defenders over...

I had no idea he showed up to camp overweight... I had heard something about him possibly needing a bra at one time but I just took it as he was a big guy... there is no reason for showing up to camp out of shape though, they get paid to stay in shape!

Ive defended Duce year in and year out, injury or not...but it's getting really old seeing a guy with so much talent and making so much money not out on the field contributing.

It is time to cut Duce. He is going to be a waste of money and time on that bench this season. I am very disappointed in him. I will admit, Duce Staley was the worse free agent pickup of this decade thus far. I will also admit Ryan Clark is about to become tied with Duce.

I just wish Duce would get into shape and stop being so injury prone. It doesn't seem so. It was great when Duce ran over 700 yards before he got hurt.
