Penn State offensive tackle Levi Brown visited the Steelers' South Side facility today. He's the first projected first-round draft pick to meet with team officials during the final round of interviews for the upcoming NFL Draft.

Brown (6-5, 321 pounds), who's projected to be taken in the top half of the first round, isn't expected to be available when the Steelers select at No. 15. But he's a big-time talent, and the Steelers have a history of moving up in the draft.

Brown was a four-year starter at left tackle, considered the most valuable position on the offensive line. He started all 11 games he played in 2006, missing two (Northwestern and Minnesota) as a result of surgery to repair a torn meniscus in his knee.

I think we have all the offensive tools that we need to put a productive offense on the field. I believe whatever offensive picks we make this year will fill reserve roles anyway. It's the defense that needs most of the attention in this years draft IMO. It would be nice to have Levi Brown but he is not going to help us put pressure on the quarterback. We need a couple linebackers and maybe another corner too! At least one of those linebackers needs to be a stud who can play and contribute right away. Can't wait until it is past history (the draft) and we are debating who we think can contribute right away and who are the project picks for the future.

I don't like the sound of going o-line in the first round either, but I do think Levi is one of those "locks" that you see at tackle every year.

We'll see... can't wait until the 28th & 29th.

I wouldn't say he dominated Brown... I re-watched the game and I watched Spencer every snap. Spencer had a solid game, he got to the quarterback a couple times and he made some great plays in short yardage and in pursuit, but he was lining up on both sides and also occasionaly stunting. Spencer had a good game, but it wasn't on Brown alone. There were plenty of snaps where Brown shut him down.

Not taking anything away from either guy... it was a good battle all day long. Spencer definitely did better against Levi than most men.

Brown will definitely make some team's OL better. With the signing of Mahan, I've got my hopes up that Zierlein gets our OL back to being the beasts we're used to seeing. Oh yeah and popping Starks head out of his ***. OLB/DE is still my thinking in the first round.

"I can do a lot of things well, but I can get a lot better at all of them," Brown told reporters at the NFL Scouting Combine. "I definitely love run blocking more than pass blocking. I like to run into a guy, knock him on his back, talk a little mess on the way down and help him up, make it look good.

"Pass blocking, you keep the guy away from the quarterback, just try to dominate all game."

We always put such a high priority on OL in the draft that it wouldnt be a shock if we did go OL in round 1 although I hope we address OLB in round 1 instead and hit OL in the 2nd round.

As long as we address the line on day 1 I'll be happy.

He has to be the best back in the draft after contact... great ballance for a big man.
