A McKeesport man who said he was assaulted by Jason Gildon in a Strip District nightclub sued the former Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker Wednesday for assault and battery.
According to the lawsuit filed in Allegheny County Common Pleas court, Todd Arthrell suffered facial bruises and scars after the May 13 altercation inside Altar Bar on Penn Avenue. Arthrell is seeking unspecified damages in excess of $25,000 from Gildon, a two-time Pro-Bowler who played 10 seasons in Pittsburgh before being released in June 2004.
Gildon, 33, of Franklin Park, initially was charged by police with assault for the fight. He pleaded guilty in June to a reduced charge of disorderly conduct and agreed to pay $419 in fines and costs.
Jason is and will continue to be one of my favorite players to ever wear a Steeler uniform. I got to meet him at a Fan blitz a few years ago. It was amazing and he was such a cool guy and fan favorite. It's too bad to see stuff like this happen to players after they leave the game.
