Speaking from a selfish perspective, if he can't be a Steeler, then ANYONE but the Bengals! I wish him the best.

I think that was the biggest thing for me... I didn't want to see him play for anyone in the division or the Patriots. I can handle him going to the Phins. Good Luck Joey!

The Dolphins didn't want to wait for Joey Porter to make a five- to six-team NFL tour.

While Porter, the former Steelers outside linebacker, was spending Monday trying to map out his trips to NFL teams, the Dolphins came in with an offer he couldn't refuse. Porter agreed to a five-year, $32 million contract that includes $20 million in guarantees.

The Steelers released him a week ago because they didn't have plans to sign him after his contract ran out in 2007. With several key starters entering the final year of their contract, the Steelers had to be selective and Porter became a salary cap casualty.

The minute he became a free agent, his phone was ringing. He had enough offers to visit most of the teams that run a 3-4 defense and few, including Cincinnati, that run a 4-3.

Porter wanted to take the weekend to settle himself and find a new spot. On Monday, he started to put together a plan of trips. Then the Dolphins entered the picture and worked out a contract. Knowing he was one of the top defensive players available, Porter accepted a deal from the Dolphins before making his tour. He will play for a Dom Capers 3-4 defense in Miami.

Playing for Dom Capers in the 34 scheme fits him perfectly. Capers was the original mastermind of the Zone blitz along with Lebeau. Good luck Buddy, we'll miss ya man !

Wow! That's a lot of money for a dude that probably has at most 1 good year left assuming his knees hold up! At least he's going to get paid!

Well if you break it down, between the money he's getting in a signing bonus and then his yearly salary...if Joey makes it 4 out of the 5 years they'll have gotten their money's worth out of him. Im sure they made the contract as such that the final year saves them a bunch of cap room if he isn't there.

I'm sure he will...The only way I could see him not getting a warm welcome would be if he starts talking crap on the Steelers (but I don't really see him taking this approach...the Steelers treated him with respect and that's why he's getting these big bucks now).

...............The Fins! Yeah Peezy is now a Dolphin and really I am not mad, I really don't care. Like I said as long he is not a Ratbird, Bungle, Clown or Patriot I will be happy. The contract is pretty nuts. Check it out:

Yeah I'm happy he's on a crappy team in the AFC East rather then with a AFC North team.

Well Joey I wish you the best and thanks for all you did for the Steelers. He got the money he wanted. But I bet right now he won't play out that contract. He will be cut before that contract is up with the Dolphins.

i can't believe they gave him a 12 million dollar signing bonus, i know he's good, but damn.......and he's gonna be 30, and they have no offense, i would've rather spent money on that end......but it's whatever not like they'll be better then the jets or pats so we never have to worry about porter in the playoffs

I still mourn the loss of Porter a bit. He still had potential to do very well in the Steelers D even with that one bad year last year. Like it or now, Porter is never going to be as intimidating in Turquoise and White/Orange as he was in Black and Gold. I feel bad just because I saw him as a player that could have continued to a very good possibility of eternal fame and reverence that will now just wither away to nothing in about 4 years.

Man did Joey screw the fins with this deal. I cannot believe they overpaid for a aging linebacker on the downside of his career. He will be out of miami within three years.
