The Joey Porter sweepstakes is heating up. Porter's agent told the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review that the Cowboys and Ravens are the latest teams to inquire about his client. Other teams interested: Dolphins, Bengals, Browns and Giants. The veteran linebacker would reportedly like to top the $5 million salary he was to receive this season from the Steelers.

Might as well get used to him not being a Steeler anymore, thats why I posted this here in the NFL section. :yesnod:

I just don't want to see him in the AFCN, that would just be too much of a reminder.....although what do you bet he gets a shitload of ESPN coverage next year now that he is not a Steeler!

2 things are off limits Peezy, AFCN teams (other than the Steelers), and the Pats. Anywhere else, I could live with.

Well, I can be pretty certain that the Seahawks won't enter the Peezy sweepstakes. Linebackers are one of the few areas where we don't need some more depth. Faneca however....

I wonder how much of this is the agent blowing smoke? To make it appear that there is a bidding war for portapotty's services.

Considering the fact that he's the top free agent LB available now that Thomas has been signed, I'd say it's no surprise that he's getting offers.

I see him going to the Ravens. They lost a lot of talent and I think he would fit nicely there.

No way dude, you're not getting Faneca, perish the thought !

As far as Porter goes, he's going to have teams jumping in and out of the picture over the coming weeks as he schedules interviews and visits teams. Hell his agent will be receiving text messages about offers while he's in with another already.

Man would that be a tough pill to swallow. i would never be able to wear my Faneca jersey ever again up here. Although Seahawk training camp is right around the corner from me. I could always take a jersey and get him to sign it...lol.

It's not hate my friend. It is basically I have stong opinions on matters. It really pisses people off when I do not agree with follow the sheep approach. That most in this country do. I form my own opinions and that really just angers people. Cause those opinions generally do not agree with the majority.

Get it straight Koopa, You want him to hook up with Thurman and Henry. That would be the quickest way to end his career.

He will have to learn a new scheme. So I do not think he will be effective right off the bat. Besides one good chop block and that would be the end of Joey Porter.

The chargers said thanks but no thanks. We do not need a downgrade at the position.

He's interested in the 49ers and Chargers because it's close to his home. If either one of them gave him a good deal he'd probably jump on it. I'd love to see him go to San Fran, he'd be a good fit there and they need help on defense.

Joey Porter's hometown if Bakersfield, CA. It happens to be the hometown of one my favorites bands also. The band is Korn. Ok I don't know what the point of this post by me was but hey I typed it anyway. :bluelol:

I've been having a wierd feeling and my Dad brought something up and it kindof makes a little sense. We all know how out spoken Porter is and he has said nothing bad about the Steelers and vise versa. Also, while the Steelers have a lot of class and usually don't want to screw a former player...it is just wierd that they let him go for nothing instead of trading him and getting maybe a third round pick or something. Also, the Steelers don't usually operate like this, but is it possible they told Joey to go test the market knowing that he wasn't worth what he was asking and asked him to give them a chance to match any offer that he may get. I know this is a little out there and very untypical of the Steelers but there has just been such an wierd silence. I don't know. It's always a possiblity I guess. I highly doubt this is the case...I don't really see it happening, but it gives you something to think about.

I think I'm dreaming from my last post....lol....but a girl can dream, can't she??? Plus I've had a little to drink!!! Anyways....I don't want to see Joey with anyone in our division, but we have to prepare ourselves, because there is a good chance it could happen. I wish him nothing but the best unless he ends up in Cincy or Baltimore....then I will hate the guy and won't care about him anymore!
