PITTSBURGH -- Steelers outside linebackers coach Joey Porter was arrested Sunday night outside a Pittsburgh bar, hours after the team's 30-12 AFC wild-card win over the Miami Dolphins.

Police said security guards at The Flats on Carson summoned a police officer who was working at a nearby restaurant "due to an unruly customer who was in the process of assaulting the doorman.''

Police said the officer stopped the assault and arrested the customer, who was later identified as Porter, 39, a former star player.

Porter was taken to the Allegheny County Jail. He is charged with aggravated assault, simple assault, resisting arrest, public drunkenness and disorderly conduct. It is unclear if he has an attorney who can comment on the charges.

The Steelers acknowledged an "incident involving Joey Porter" in a brief statement Sunday.

I don't know how it will effect our Linebackers. It was interesting looking at the Chiefs message boards and they are concerned about Bud Dupree. They are him calling him the latest Steeler "goon" and "thug" that is hell bent on injuring and crippling players on the other team.
That's good, maybe the Chiefs backs and receivers will play the game with their head on a swivel wondering where Dupree is.

Dupree looks to be our next great linebacker. With that said, having Shazier healthy and staying healthy will be huge for us going forward.

Agreed, the linebackers are playing at a high level right now.

Joey Porter it seems has done one heck of a great job as these linebackers are playing some hard hitting football. At least he wasn't shooting at a police helicopter...the Rooneys use their influence sparingly but when they do, they get maximum cooperation as some of the charges were dropped.

Gee, I wonder what set Porter off? Of course bars are a magnet for troubled people and erratic behavior.
