View Full Version : Steelers Raiders game is a MUST WIN...

I guess we can use this as the Gameday thread for the game tomorrow. But I said it last week and I will say it again now the game with the Raiders and the game at home with the Browns next Sunday are absolute MUST win games for the Steelers if they want to still have a legit chance to get a wildcard spot. Right now the Steelers have a 1-4 conference record which is one of the worst in the AFC. They probably will at some point suffer a 5th AFC loss but it just cannot happen either tomorrow with the Raiders or next Sunday with the Browns. The Steelers need to get their record to 6-4 overall and back to 3-4 in the AFC going into their bye week two weeks from now. If you look at all the other wildcard contenders that are 3-5 or 4-4 now such as Buffalo,Miami,KC, and the Jets and Raiders their schedules moving forward are very tough so if the Steelers simply win these next two games and get to 6-4 believe me they will be in excellent shape going into December to have a chance to make the playoffs.

This is without question the most important game of the season. A loss to the Raiders would put us 1.5 games behind them and they would own the head to head matchup. Tuitt looks like he will be back as well as Will Allen.

Yeah, it's a must win game and there is no excuse why we shouldn't be effective big time in the red zone.

Look on the bright side, if they do lose tomorrow we can almost start talking about the draft, looking forward to next season, and use our Sundays to catch up on the honey do list.

And it also could mean this team is heading toward another 8-8 season which would be their 3rd in 4 years and not winning a playoff game in 5 years. And at some point that isn't going to be good enough around here. Whether Tomlin got a contract extension through 2017 or not at some point here in the next year or so he has to start winning games in January and for that matter getting to January or he really needs to start being on the hot seat.

Not a great start dropped passes on the first series and then the Raiders get the ball back after a missed 4th down conversion and score on 3 plays.

It has been a very entertaining game thus far.

except for a couple of odd dee breakdowns, the long run and the blown coverage, the dee is looking good.....21 points in the first half is acceptable...id like to see them pour it on more in the second half.

disappointed in very little qb pressure....

Rocky#20
11-08-2015, 03:53 PM
The key will be when the Raiders get the second half kick-off. We can't let them drive down and tie it up. I'll take holding them to a FG as long as we have the lead when the O gets the ball.

Mitchell has to be aware of where the hell he is in that situation picking the ball up after stepping out of bounds. If Mitchell would stop worrying about acting like a hard *** every time he does something maybe things like that wouldn't happen.

teeceemadison

Bad play by Mitchell, he snatched it away from Dupree who would have walked into the end zone.

11-08-2015, 04:07 PM
Huge blown opportunity there getting the damn ball at the Raiders 43 and going 3 and out terrible play calling there. Why would you call 2 run plays in a row to start that drive when you been throwing the ball all over the place on the Raiders the entire game.

And now the Raiders are about to tie the game cause of the Steelers dumbness.

Great hit by Mitchell, but he stands there and does a dance while the ball is at his feet. Head up by Jarvis Jones.

Troyisabeast_43
11-08-2015, 06:21 PM
No way Ben plays against the Browns next week with the bye week coming up the following week. Even if he can play which I doubt he can it would just be a dumb move by the Steelers. Hopefully the injury isn't that serious and Ben can be back in time for the Seattle game after the bye week. This was a MUST win though today and a game the Steelers had to win. Had they lost this game and went 1-5 in the AFC and 4-5 overall losing the tiebraker to the Raiders they would have virtually had no chance to make the playoffs. This win at least puts them in a good spot at 5-4 with a bad Browns team coming in here next week and a chance to get to 6-4 at the bye week.

Rocky#20
11-08-2015, 06:57 PM
This shows the incredible potential of our O, we scored 38 points, had over 600 yards of offense and yet could have played much better. I sure hope Ben is back for Seattle after the bye.

Why do you constantly insult people? Everyone on this board wants the Steelers to win and we are all glad they did. Just because someone might disagree with you doesn't mean they are your enemy. You can make your point without resorting to nasty insults. In the words of the late Rodney King, "can't we just all get along"?

According to Albert Breer of the NFL network, Ben will be out a "few weeks" with a foot sprain.

Troyisabeast_43

Good news indeed on Ben hopefully much like the knee it heels rather quickly and Ben comes back 3 weeks from today in Seattle.

Rocky#20
11-08-2015, 09:13 PM
ESPN is now saying it is a mid-foot sprain and Ben will miss only 1 or 2 weeks. If Landry Jones can gut out a win over the Browns then we have a bye and Ben should be back at Seattle.

Just listen to yourself...

If the Raiders go on to win, it will all point back to Mitchell's bad pay and the horrible play calling after the blocked punt.

As if the Raiders weren't even playing and the only reason the Steelers were going to lose was because of a botched fumble returned for a TD? What about Carr? Murray? Crabtree? Cooper? None of these players had any influence on the outcome of the game? Only the Steelers can beat the Steelers? Wow, have a little respect for the opponent.

No, just someone who has watched football for around 60 years. When you have a chance to put the other team away and don't you usually lose.

If Jones comes out and is allowed to seriously "play": "PLAY" meaning the coaching staff allows him to throw the ball 20 + times, we can win the game without Ben.

Him throwing will make Deangelo effective.

I agree. If they handcuff Landry again like they did against K.C., the Steelers will lose to the Browns.
