Time to put any pre-season hyperbole behind us and it on paper ... (sort of)

What is your prediction for the 2013 Pittsburgh Steelers?

I'm going with a 10-6 team (improvement over last year).

I don't think they win the division, but towards the end, find themselves fighting for a Wildcard spot.

What say you?

I was thinking we have the potential to be 10-6 or even 11-5 if they (namely Ben) stay healthy. That's a big IF.

I'm bracing myself for another injury riddled 8-8 or worse. We'll see.

6-10

The offensive line cant protect Ben and he gets hurt for 6 weeks. Hate to be so down on this team this season, but Ben can not keep taking hits this time of his career.

I'm going with 8-8 but I do think the talent is there for them to compete for the play-offs....Just need to stay healthy and some of the younger players to really step up this year.........

I'll be the optimist here:

Somehow we go 12-4.

I do not think this team is great, however good enough to go 11-5 in a horrible AFC and they do have an easy schedule.......

If BR7 stays healthy 9-7.....realistically........7-9........Too many new faces in too many important places......Too many old faces in the same old places.....ok my prediction......8-8.......

I'm going with 10-6 and believe a good shot at winning the North.

What say you?

4-12 with Tomlin and Colbert packing their bags. Rooneys don't usually move this quickly, but with unsold hot dogs and empty seats they change their modus operandi!

11 and 5.......so long at #7 plays. Our D looks better to me and our offence should be better. We need Bell and Miller back to make a big difference.

Yeah...not looking good at all. I'm not sold on any part of this team right now. The defense, a revamped passing game, virtually no running game...just doesn't look good at all. Add to that I have NO confidence in Tomlin...none.

7-9 would be a good season for this team. More likely 6-10.

But, we'll get a top ten pick for Tomlin to squander!

10-6/11-5

6-10 at best... We were .500 last year and lost even more talent. We have about 10 to 12 guys on our roster who shouldnt even be in the NFL...

We will be 6-6 and Tomlin informs the league he will be unleashing hell. We lose 4 straight to end the season 6-10. Steelers talk to Cowher about a return to try and fix what Tomlin destroyed.

12-4, as they ride the #1 defense again, and ben & bell carry the steelers to victory. Watch out for jarvis splash plays!
seriously!!!

The Steelers were 8-8 last season and lost 5 games by 3 points or less. They could have easily been 13-3. The QB, RB, LB, WR, and secondary are all improved from last season. The key is staying healthy.

This team will go as far as the coaching staff allows it.

Assuming everyone stays healthy for the most part (not missing more than a game or two), I say they can and will finish 10-6. I also believe that the Ravens and Bengals could also finish 10-6 making it real interesting for who wins the division. Either way, I can see the two teams that don't win the division both being wild cards in the playoffs. So, I predict the Steelers, Ravens and Bengals all make the playoffs.

7-9 is my pick though I hope much better.

Then again, if we are on the road to a 5-11 record, or even 6-10, throw the games and try to come as close to the #1 pick as you can get. Yeah, it may not be "Honorable" but then again winning is more important.

Dont forget they did go 1-3 without ben and those wide reciever fumbles just about every game. They really could have easily won 11 games last year.......

AFCN

10-6 Steelers
10-6 Bengals
10-6 Ravens
10-6 Browns

Now subtract one win for every game the starting QB is out..

Sorry to be a negative Nancy, but there's way too many questions on this team. I say 7-9, at best.

Tomlin doesn't make the picks.

Then I say bye-bye Ben.

We can be 6-10 with Brady Quinn or Tim Tebow so what's the difference? I would rather have Cowher trade Ben and be 6-10 the first year while building for the future. Then to watch Tomlin waste Roesthlisberger and the talent he has left and still be 6-10.

Good afternoon everyone. I am new here. I look forward to some great steeler talk, and hopefully a GREAT season. As far as my own prediction, well it's hard. I realize right now that we have a very young O-Line that needs some game time Reps in order to improve. I also know that losing a WR like Wallace will hurt. As well as not having Miller early on. However, I also think our early schedule is easy enough to go at least 3-2, maybe even 4-1 in our first 5 games. Alot will depend if our running game improves this season. And if WR like Brown, Sanders, and the rookie Wheaton can get open. I know we lost alot on Defense with Harrison and K.Lewis, and some S depth. But Harrison was hurt alot last season anyways, and even though a great team leader...his game was falling off. Hopefully Troy can stay healthy, and have a great season for us...I think he will.

Right now I HAVE to be a good steeler optimist, and say we go 11-5. But, if things happen. If the O-Line struggles, or Ben God forbid suffers a serious Injury, then all bets are off. If that does happen, I might, I say I might be open to trying to deal players like Troy to a contending team. If for no other reason to give us additional Draft ammunition to rebuild our team. If we have a bad record say after the first 6 to 7 games, it might be a good idea to deal a HEALTHY Troy cause at that time, A contending team might look to over pay the Steelers for him. But I would rather dwell on the Positives, and not the Negatives.

So I am Happy to be here. And I will ROOT & CHEER for our beloved Steelers!!!

Win or lose they never get any respect from the media, and haters. If they lose its Tomlin's fault, Colberts, the coaching staff, the old players, the young players, ect... if they win, the excuses will come out too, the bengals were hurt, the ravens lost too many players, our schedule was too easy,,,ect! No one ever picks them to go all the way, because they are envious of those 6 trophy's, Soon to be 7. as a die hard fan, i have to be optimistic. I watch every play and never give up hope. if they dont make the play-offs, my heart sinks, and I start to look forward to next season. (unles they look like the 3 stooges (or 22 stooges), I NEVER GIVE UP! im black and gold all the way!!!!

+1 for 6-10.

im just not feeling it this year and I don't put much stock in the "coulda woulda shoulda" stuff. if that, if this... pfft. it is to be expected however, the nfl is too focused on high scoring aerial displays. they've crippled defenses and waved goodbye to the days of the nose to the ground slugfests. they aren't interested in an old school real man's game, they want more tom bradys in petticoats. wouldn't surprise me if one day not too far off they decided they're going to require that all football stadiums be in domes to protect the players from hypothermia and heat stroke, replace cleats with wrestling shoes because they're too sharp and might scratch someone, and take out both grass fields and astroturf instead putting down padding so no one skins their knees or elbows.

why not just throw ****ing roses at each other and cuddle?

I want to agree with you as far as the team losing 5 games by 3 points or less and optimistically say we could have been 13-3, but the teams we lost to were not that good. The team has questions on both sides of the ball. Even if some people want to look back to last year and say that we had a great D like always, I think it was as much a product of the schedule as anything else. I say we go 8-8 but that depends on the O-line. If it doesn't play better, we could seriously be sub .500 this year.

I think we will go 10-6 if BR stays healthy. If we split our division games that's 3 wins, I think we will get revenge and beat the Titans and Raiders that's now 5 wins. We should split with the NFC North giving us 2 more wins and I think we will beat the 3 AFC East other than the Pats and this gives us 10 wins.

9-7 +/- 1 game

In the playoff picture heading into the final month

Will need to go 3-1 in the final 4 games to make the playoffs

If most key players stay healthy for most of the season (with our lack of depth this could mean almost anyone) I will say 10-6. An injury to Ben, more than one player on the O-Line, Troy, Timmons, Allen, or Taylor and this team is instantly sub .500.

Overall it is a mediocre year for the AFC, lets stay healthy, play SMART, DISCIPLINED football and see where everything falls. I do think the Steelers can get on a run mid to late season, we just need to keep getting better and play consistently.

Keeping in mind how the Steelers beat themselves into an 8-8 record, some distractions moving on, I honestly think if healthy, they can be 11-5 this year. Splits with Cincy and Baltimore, Losses to NE, GB, and possibly DET.

Regarding Sunday, I say Steelers win 20-10. Not glamorous, but they get the job done.
