The problem everyone has with analysing this team is nobody knows what they are looking for anymore and I'm not talking about which positions which is a guess at the best of times, it's the type of player they are going for, either schematically or physically or mentally. It's a bi-product of a new coaching staff we don't know what Tomlin and the staff are looking for. We know the defensive staff is intact, Colbert is there, Arians as OC, but how the philosophy changes we won't know until after the draft. :tt02:

That's the million dollar question to date, how will we draft, how much might change in our philosphy. Do we trade up to get someone, or wait and hope they fall, do we reach or trade out of a round, I hate all this waiting

Its very simple. You draft defensive players that can play both in a 4-3 and 3-4.

You look at an DE that can play OLB but if the Steelers go to a 4-3 look at times then that player can move back to DE. Then you look at a 3-4 DE that can play DT in a 4-3.

Players like Adam Carriker the Dlineman from Nebraska can DE in a 3-4 and DT in a 4-3. Then players like Gaines Adams, Anthony Spencer would be a DE in a 4-3 and OLB in a 3-4.

Don't put it past Tomlin to pass on a great player "on paper" when he might find a "great man" who is a "good player" instead. His emphasis on character so far since he's been hired Im sure will play a major influence in who we pick, even moreso than in the past.

They know what 'character' means but its a whole different definition then what we use. "They've got a bunch of characters in the Bungholes locker room". lol
As far as the draft I think we will see which way Tomlin is leaning when we see who we draft.
