Step away from the ledge, KTrain. LOL

I am disappointed from the perspective that they could have gotten him at least 10-15 picks later. Why not trade back?

That said, OLB and RB were HUGE holes that needed to be filled and we did that. We now have a feature back (even if you think Lacy is better) and just signed a good 3rd down back.

It has been a good two days.

Doubt they could have gotten him in the third round. After all, he is a pretty good back. I'm not excited about the pick at all, but I'm not suicidal over it either. Would I have liked Brown or Allen better? Absolutely! Would I have liked Lacy more? Honestly, not really. They grade out pretty much equally for me in regards to what we want our backs to do. Then, you may dislike what we want our backs to do, but Bell is a good fit here.

I hope we try to trade up in the third and get Allen or Brown if they fall the slightest outside the second.

Cause some fans are stuck in the past........They can't let it go...... Exactly how many championships did we win with Bettis as the featured RB ? Answer none and Willie Parker was more of the starting RB when we won it in 2005. Not to mention Bettis almost fumble our chances away at the Colts 1 yard line and if it wasn't for Ben and his great tackle. People need to move on from Bettis!

Steelers add to backfield
The Steelers passed on Eddie Lacy and Montee Ball, among others, to take running back Le'Veon Bell in the second round of the draft.

While some might question the move - and I didn't have Bell on my second-round list - I found that Lacy had injury issues that caused some concern and the Steelers just liked Bell more than Ball.

As you all know, I like Bob McGinn of the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel's draft preview guides. McGinn had Bell rated as the third-best back in this draft, with scouts saying he had the look of a feature back.

Will that be the case? We don't know.

But what we do know is that Bell carried the ball 382 times last season for a team in which he was the entire offense and did not break down. He also catches the ball out of the backfield well.

And at 6-1, 230 pounds, he ran a 4.57 40 and had the fastest three-cone drill among running backs at the combine.

OK, that makes some sense.

Bell doesn't always run like a big man - he doesn't look for contact like Isaac Redman. But that's not always a bad thing either, especially when you'd like to see him stay healthy in the NFL.

The Steelers passed on some good talent to take Bell, including Arthur Brown, D.J. Swearinger and Margus Hunt, three players I think could be stars in the NFL.

Bell had better become the player the Steelers think he will be - Tood Haley compared him to Eddie George - for this one not to bite them in the behind in the future. Brown went to Baltimore, while Hunt went to Cincinnati.

If those two players turn into stars and Bell does not, the Steelers will be reminded of that four times per season.

not thrilled with the pick.... but very happy overall that we drafted for need and didn't do stupid BPA stuff... we got 3 future starters with first 3 picks... that's great... how good they will be, will be determined later

If you told me we'd come out of the first 3 rounds with a premier pass rushing prospect, a stretch the field WR, and a 20 touch back... i'd say, job well done. there were guys i liked more at those positions, and a different path i envisioned... but the end result is what was needed

I agree. Absolutely love Jarvis Jones. Can't imagine being much happier with our 1st. Not a fan of the Bell pick but we'll see. Right idea, just wrong player IMO. I like Wheaton. Fast, tough, very good hands, can play all over the place, and like Jones is a very high character guy. I like it.

How you doing buddy? It's going to be okay. Let me help your vision on Bell:

If you go back and watch tapes, Bell IS an exact copy of Arian Foster. And we will be using the same blocking scheme as the Texans too.

Just go back, look at Bell, then go look at Foster. That will make you feel better.

I liked Bell and thought he would be the pick in round 3 (see my mock). I a a little surprised we took him in 2, but can live with it. You have a durable back, with good ball security that can tote the rock 25-30 times a game. He can catch the ball out of the backfield, don't know if he is good against the blitz. Takes the load off of Ben and should hasten the departure of at least Redman and/ or 2-down Dwyer. I like the pick.

Where are the Mendy, Redman, and/ or Dwyer haters now.

I believe when the RB Giovani went off the board early and with Lacy falling like he was, probably due to his not so good pro day. They were sure their guy(Bell) wasn't going to make it till round 3, especially with Denver and Green Bay coming up soon with RB needs.
