If a #1 falls at any position except K and P the Steelers have to take him, just like Castro fell. We don't usually pick this low. So you just have to take advantage of it. Use the the rest of the draft to fill needs. But you gotta get that stud.

We will take the BPA at 17 that's what we do....

We will take the BPA at #17, I think from one of the positions below(no particular order):

WR, ILB, OLB, S, CB, G

So if the #1 QB falls, you take him? Or the #1 center?

Won't be a guard, safety or corner. Possibly TE as well as the others though.

We may take a center, round 4 or down.

No safety? We have Ryan (33 years old) and the oft injured Troy. If the big 3 are gone and Vaccaro is there, who knows?

No, those were called reaches. Neither were BPA.

Different GM, that was Donahue not Colbert.

We are not taking a stinking Safety or TE at # 17. We will take the best LB available and he will be one of our opening day starters on defense.

If the number one center falls no, I forgot to add that in, but if Geno Smith falls, I would. Groom him for 3 yrs and Ben would be gone by then. Same as the Rodgers and Favre deal

they need to find a guy they like and move up to get him....patterson, jones, jordan, mingo...

i would not take geno smith, MUCH rather take bray in 2 or 3

To be honest the steeler have holes in quite a few places, BPA for the first 2 rounds IMO.

Actually, if the number one center were pick 17 worthy, it wouldn't be crazy. Pouncey could move to guard and be real good there!!

Here's the skinny:

If Geno Smith is taken in the top 10, that's going to push Jarvis Jones to us at # 17. I'm hoping like hell someone messes up and takes Geno Smith. I'm a little scared of Jones because of his health issues but the upside chance has me intrigued.

And Jones will be an immediate starter that can make an impact. And Lord knows, we need some impact players from this draft if we are to compete this season.

The above mentioned along with Cooper are really the players the Steelers need to target in Round #1, if at all possible.

Every year 2 or 3 team mess up reaching for a QB or an OT, as we have the no. 17 pick it might be 1 or 2 only but either way i think we will be benefiting from it, someone might reach for geno smith, for manti

who knows

If Chance Warmack is still at #17, I would take him. In the Notre Dame game , he was the best player on the field. He would blow up the guy across from him and then head down field and smash anyone else in his way. I can see our OL with Adams, Warmack, Pouncey, DeCastro and Gilbert for the next several years.

Ah, c'mon. Everyone knows draft picks from well over a decade ago made by a completely different GM are absolutely relevant now.

Well, Decastro is plenty nasty enough but I know what you mean. I"d like to re-establish our identity as bad S.O.B.'s and our O-lne smashing some folks would sure do that.

Right, on both sides of the ball.. We need some damn push on the D line and the O line needs to start foaming at the mouth and fire off the ball and kill someone!
