View Full Version : Steelers took a late run at Jake Long....

Adam Schefter reported that the Steelers jumped in late with an offer to Jake Long because they aren't sold on their offensive tackles....So everyone on here who is saying that they are "thinking" that are offensive line will be solid this year, it's more like they are "praying".

Makes me feel good if that's true that they could make a run at Dumervil.

In Jamison's Hensley's Blog on ESPN, He mentions that the Steelers might not be as cap strapped as everyone thinks.....I didn't know this was something that you could be secretive about, isn't the truth in the numbers?? Maybe Omar is a magician.

They have a couple players they could release to free up some more $$$.... If they wanted him they could make it happen!

This is huge evidence that the FO is going to most likely address the O-line with one of the first two picks. WOW.

I hope so and lets protect Ben and that whole offense turns around regardless if its Hailey or Arians running it or losing Wallace and etc. That would have been sweet if they could have landed Jake. Glad they made a effort for him though.

Tells me the FO has no idea how to draft an offensive line! Give this team the best RB in the draft and they'll be bottled up before they even get the ball!

calm down, thats not true....theyve drafted some studs the last few years, they are questioning gilbert the most id expect, but that must also mean they are questioning mike adams on the left. If Adams finds a home on the right permanently and decastro and pouncey are doing their thing in the middle i would question gilbert on the left at this stage too and i was a big fan of gilbert. Beachem is an unknown so LG is still a need.

Adams showed some great things last season, hes got some serious tools to work with and his kick out, ability to mirror, and punch all improved as the year went on, but his run blocking was freaking unbelievable..wait til they have him working more zone he'll be paving the way even for our ****** RBs

I know, I know... Pouncey, DD, I love Adams.. I'm still not convinced this team knows what direction they want to go on offense, they seem stuck in the mud. Passing team? Running team??

If they took a run at Long, why not Sebastian Vollmer?

With Long's history of injuries it makes me want Vollmer more.......

Making a run could honestly mean anything.
They coulda offered him a minimum offer and thats technically making a run. Im sure that wasnt the case but I aint reading too much into this.

I want more updates on elvis tho

That's my point. So how can we judge Dwyer and Redman fairly? That lines has a bunch of "name" guys but so far, run production is crappy. I want to see an O-line that knows how to run block and one that is well conditioned for a change.

I find this hard to believe. A run at a tackle? That's not a position of need; we have two 2nd round picks there.

Gilbert is injury Prone, and Adams looked like a turnstile this year....I don't care what pick they were, they have question marks.

i think gilbert is a much bigger question mark than adams at this point. also, the difference between having a tackle and having a top 5 tackle is night and day for an offense

You spent the entire preseason last year carrying the water for Dwyer over Redman (to the point of saying that Dwyer was definitively better on the basis of a couple of carries in a preseason game) and suddenly after an entire regular season we do not have enough data to judge?

Puhleese. At least TRY to be intellectually consistent.

I agree with you on Gilbert being a bigger question. Have to at least give Adams a year as a starter.
