MOCK DRAFT: Mel Kiper's Initial First-Round Projection | Jan. 25

This initial projection is based on what I've identified as key need areas for each team.

There are 17 underclassmen among my projections for the first 32 picks of the 2007 NFL draft, including two of the top three. LSU junior quarterback JaMarcus Russell gets the nod as the first overall pick, and North Carolina State defensive tackle Tank Tyler rounds out my first-round projections as the No. 32 overall selection to Indianapolis.

Again I put no stock in mock drafts. Nobody outside of the HC and GM knows what the draft strategy will be. Specially when you have a brand new HC who has never taken such an active role in a draft before. Only thing I don't like in this draft is Okoye going to the Bungels. I wouldn't mind if Jarvis Moss was the Steelers #1 but I don't want Okoye going to a division rival! I would take Okoye before Moss. If Okoye is already off the board then Moss would be a fine pick but I would be upset if we passed Okoye for Moss!

hmmm... defensive end???? Makes you think Tomlin will want to implement the 4-3 at some point :dunno: but I feel as long as Lebeau is around it will be a 3-4.

I am basing my opinion off of the fact that there was nobody at the senior bowl who was more of a disruptive force in the practices leading up to the game or in the game itself! Jarvis Moss played in that game and was a non-factor. I am not saying that Jarvis is no good. The South team in general had a bad showing on both sides of the ball. But if I had to choose based on who I think will be a more dominant force in the NFL........its Okoye! IMO
