Does anyone think that this would be a viable option for next year depending how free agency pans out?

If DL returns as some say he will, I highly doubt it.

No.
We don't have the horses to play a 4-3. We don't have the DL play makers, nor do we have the DL depth to be able to have enough guys to rotate in.
Playing a 4-3 isn't just sticking an extra linemen in and calling it a day. The entire philosophy is different. In the 4-3 you need the line to make the plays, put the pressure on the QB. In the 3-4, the line is there to take up blocks so the line backers can make the plays.

We need LB's Draft 2.
We need a #1 S but will they sit for three years?? S in FA is better maybe?
Spence is broke, 55 is where?? 92 is old, 56 is is is is?? 50 is right behind 92.. we have 94 and 93!

With the amount of time Troy and Clark miss, a S would get playing time right away.

They wouldn't sit, no. Look at the last couple years with how much time Troy and Clark have missed. A guy coming in at S will likely get significant playing time. I'm fine with a better back up at FA though.

Why are you screaming?
Look past the top line stats and you'll see how this defense was not a #1 defense, let alone a super bowl defense.

This has been Beaten to death around here ... But Whenever DL decides to walk I think it's definitely the direction they go
I think Tomlin and Colbert were expecting DL to retire by now , as they can't just fire him ... But Tomlin came from a 4-3 if I'm not mistaking ... and the drafting since he came seems more fitted for the 4-3
DE - Worilds / Heyward
DT - Heyward / Tamu
DT - Hood / Mclendon
De - Woodley / ??
OLB - Timmons /
MLB - ?? Sly??
OLB - Spence / Sly
Need a MLB and some more DE ... but it could easily work
I also really want to see Sly get some time to see what he can do

Timmons would be the MLB in a 4-3.

no, he wouldn't... he'd be a weakside guy like Derrick Brooks
