Donovan McNabb seems like a nice guy. You'd hate to see something like this happen to him. Getting shipped to the Detroit Lions is like getting sent to Leavenworth. But that's the rumor that's being circulated, both in the Ann Arbor News and in Miami during Super Bowl festivities, that the Eagles could send McNabb to the Lions for the second overall pick in the draft, and in turn use that pick for Notre Dame quarterback Brady Quinn.

McNabb will speak publicly for the first time since his November knee injury today, and he might be asked about the vocal minority of Eagles fans who would like to see him sent packing. We already know McNabb has some gripes. Would the Eagles really want to get rid of him and build the franchise around a rookie?

That seems highly unlikely. The Eagles could be a legitimate Super Bowl contender in 2007, and bringing in a rookie quarterback would be a rebuilding move. The real story here may be how hungry NFL fans are for any kind of information about their teams. The Eagles have been out of it for two weeks, and the Lions have been out of it for six years. Fans of both teams just want to hear something juicy, and McNabb to the Lions definitely fits.

IF this isn't the dumbest rumor I've ever heard, but something about this may actually happen cause the Lions want to win. I guess Millen is starting to listen for once in a blue moon and bring a winning QB to the franchise. The Lions need more than just a QB, they need a decent OL. Stay tuned.

There is no way this rumor is true

no way a qb that has spent half of their career on IR is worth the second overall pick...no way

I'd be shocked if the Eagles pulled this deal off and I'd be even more shocked if Matt Millen would be that stupid to give up the Second Overall Pick.

If the Raiders don't grab him at #1 Jemarcus Russell will be sitting pretty for the Lions at #2. There's no way I'd give that up for an injury prone McNabb.

please reevaluate this statement, skill players are the only players that matter on a matt millen team.

Then again how can I call him stupid, after all he is making 5 million a year and has the worst win lost record the Lions have ever had. I think it is like 27-72 but not positive on that. So if he can manage to keep his job and Ford is dumb enough to pay him, Millan is smart enough to take it. Most Lions fans think that he meets Ford in a closet once in awhile and that is how he maintains his job. :dunno:

Andy Reid wouldnt be that dumb no matter how many times McNabb is on IR. Bringing in Brady Quinn and relying on Garcia to hold down the fort is asking for trouble. Garcia did his part this year but I don't know that I'd put all my hopes on him for the forseeable future.

McNabb was just on "Total Access" and they asked him some pretty good questions without bringing up the rumor directly.
