We need an offensive line coach and a new condition system for the O-line too.

Haley didn't throw the ball 10 yards over Wallace's head into the bungles db's hands. I am in no way a Haley supporter but Ben needs to shoulder some of the blame for today

I was going to mention that in the off-season, but yeah, I totally agree. After spending two 1s and two 2s on the OL, it shouldn't be a problem anymore!!!!!!

He did show that he can still play at a very high level. Of course that does not mean he can stay healthy though.

It was a big game against the Cowboys. Did he show up? It was a big game against the Chargers. Did he show up?

Screw a guy who isn't even around for at least half the season.

You're right. He sucks. We should cut him now, not even wait until the end of the season. And Tomlin should physically kick him in the *** out the door while saying get the F out of here.

he was being eased back into the rotation, plus lebeau had him deep to cvr for our rookie cb's.....

We have a ton of areas of concern. And I don't know exactly where the need is to upgrade at safety. But there is a need.

Right now, I'm thinking the number one concern is getting the O-line to function properly should be the first order of business.

Troy did come out on a high level today and he has been returning to what is expected of him.. but the guy has been hurt majority of the season.. do i feel hes at the end of his career yes. Because he cant stay healthy.. harrison has been getting better too.. i know alot of posts on here want him gone but i think he has another year or two left in the tank. You cant blame troy for everything

As much as i hold Ben accountable for this game, the receivers, again, could not beat press coverage and could not get separation.

He let AJ Greene breeze by him for the reception that cost them the game (look at the play). Aside from that big mistake, he had a great game. How can any safety allow Greene to get that much separation with 14 seconds left?

No reception by AJ Green breezing by Troy 'cost' us anything. The D was "elite" quality all day. An offensive offense cost us the game.

Can't blame Troy for that last play. It was Typical LeBeau soft zone prevent and Dalton and Green found the spot in it.

Should have blitzed, incomplete there and they have to throw a Hail Mary.

Same soft zone crap on 4th and 15 against the Chiefs too, and they kicked the tying FG.

The defense only does what they are told.

Polamalu is given freedom to dial it up on the fly all the time and in big game situations. In this game deciding play why would it have been any different? Had he trailed/covered Green on the play, Dalton would have been forced to go elsewhere or throw into coverage.

If you watch the replay, he drops the deeper coverage on Green which allows him to get separation. Yes, I realize they were playing a zone. With the game on the line, great players will follow their inner voice in spite of any 'bum' coaching.

I do not blame Polamalu for this loss as he had a great game except for this play. All of us know though that in life sometimes you've got to break the rules to make things right.

so the cb, who actually was assigned to green and eventually made the tackle, what was his role in this? as the cb, the wideout is HIS primary responsibility, not troy's.

It was great to see him play like himself today. I was beginning to wonder if he was still really hurt and not be able to play at a high level...maybe ever. A highlight for me. The defense was incredible.

lancer89074
12-24-2012, 10:31 AM
It was not man to man coverage, it was zone coverage. So when Green got to the cb's area after Polamalu stopped his coverage he was wide open. If Polamalu had continued covering Green, Dalton would have been forced to find another option.

To put the blame on the defensive coaching staff is where it belongs, however, I am wondering what would have been had Troy decided to pursue Green to the sideline instead of dropping the coverage. On a big play with 14 seconds left in the game, how can Green be left wide open? Dungy and Rodney Harrison wondered about this one too. Look at a replay.

You can't bash LeBeau. Not allowed.

teeceemadison
12-24-2012, 10:38 AM
what was the cb's responsibility on that play then? who was he supposed to cover while troy dropped into his assigned zone?

if troy follows green, from what i can tell, he leaves is assigned zone open underneath.....could have been the same result.

Why would you not double AJ Green? Or does that make too much sense?

Troy indeed had one good game this season. Can he consistently play like that and not get injured is up in the air. This is a young mans' game and he is no spring chicken.
