I was watching a tape of the game and in my opinion the Defensive line play improved when Cam Heyward came in for Ziggy HOOD

Absolutely no question about it. A lot of us have been saying how Heyward needs to be starting over Hood and he showed exactly why. Here's an excerpt from PFF:

With Ziggy Hood a continual disappointment as a starter for the Steelers along their defensive line, he left this game injured after just a dozen snaps, opening the door for Cameron Heyward to show what he could do. Hood had actually made a couple of plays in the run game before he went out, but they both came from being blocked to the ground around the point of attack and simply clogging up the intended running lane. It was certainly an interesting tactic, and given his play in the past, might be his best bet to make an impact.

Heyward showed after he came in that it simply is not the scheme that is holding Hood back, because in the same position and role he made far more of a presence of himself. Heyward made five tackles, which is more than half of the total that Hood has for the entire season and the story is the same when it comes to pass-rushing, with a hit and two hurries exactly half of the total pressure Hood has at this point in the year. Pittsburgh has just been given the tape that justifies a switch at the position. Let’s see if they notice.

Heyward was awesome that game, he should tots be starting. I recall one point in the third quarter where he made back to back plays on second and third and one to force a punt, dude's a beast

The question is, why hasn't Heyward been promoted to starter over hood?

It's painfully on obvious that hood is a bust and Heyward is better!

These are things that I can't stand about tomlin!

Tomlin has three really good young DE's he has to keep them all playing.. we need solid depth

Cam gobbled up the run and got decent pressure, I'd say he's got to be the starter. Hood is awful!

Yes, it was painfully obvious that Heyward is superior. Hood is a decent back up, that is all.

Cam is an upgrade over Hood.

I think that Hood would be a better nose tackle than DE

Hood is a decent back up, that is all.

If Hood is no better than a decent back up, then that was a horrible waste of a first round pick.

I don't think he has the girth or power to play nose.

I guess all that talk about Hood adding 900 pounds of muscle, running faster than a speeding bullet and being able to jump to the top of the empire state building from a dead stand was all just bull ****.

Hood donsen't hold the point of attack well, he would be a BAD NT, Hood playes better on the (offense left side ) Keisel position, And we all know he isn't taking that job, NOT YET. I wouldn't mind seeing Haywood starting.

I think a lot of us have faced the fact that Hood was a bust. So this would be easy to cope with.
