ESPNs Adam Schefter tweeted out that Kafka is a front runner for the backup QB job.

A favorite to wind up as the Steelers' backup quarterback is former Eagle Mike Kafka, who will work out for Pittsburgh on Tuesday.

Rumors are flying with names including Kafka, McNabb, Dixon, you name it.

I don't think he would be a bad option.

Where is Jarrod Johnson? Is he on a roster? He did pretty well in camp.

Kafka is smart and is a decent game manager. His arm strength is fair as is his mobility.
He wouldn't be my first choice but it seems the pickings are slim. He got cut in the Eagles
camp after he broke his non throwing hand. Fat boy Andy seemed to like him though for
what it's worth. I don't know.....:bonk:

Much better then the Brian Hoyer rumor and Dixon is going nowhere. Kafka's write up is interesting..

Kafka is way better option than Dixon, Mcnabb, Palko etc...

Kafka is better suited for the team now than Johnson would be currently, Besides Johnson is in the UFL.

Im hoping this happens...

Im hoping this happens... Hate to trot out this overused word, but he certainly has more of an upside than those first three players.

The Eagles were high on Kafka at one time to be their backup QB......I would be alright with him....Anybody but freaking Tyler Palko.....lol

With the Pittsburgh Steelers down to third-string quarterback Charlie Batch after injuries to Ben Roethlisberger and Byron Leftwich in consecutive weeks, the Steelers are looking to add another arm to their roster.

According to Jason La Canfora of CBSSports.com, the Steelers are expected to bring in free agent quarterbacks Brian Hoyer and Mike Kafka for a tryout on Tuesday. Per the report, the Steelers intend on signing one of the two.

Hoyer was most recently with the New England Patriots before being released during final cuts in August. In three years with the Patriots, Hoyer completed 27 of 43 passes for 286 yards with one touchdown and one interception.

Kafka spent his first two seasons in the league with the Philadelphia Eagles before also being released during final cuts this August. Kafka only saw playing time last season for the Eagles and completed 11 of 16 passes for 107 yards with two interceptions.

I think had the pats not taken what's his name with a steal pick they'd kept Hoyer.

Lol Dixon is an idiot.

I don't blame him for not wanting to come back to an organization that let him go and kept two old farts. Who says it won't happen again. At least he knows he has a place in the Ravens organization. Smart move Dixon.

Let him rot with the ravens and shame on the steelers for keeping two old fragile turds!

Lol Dixon is an idiot.

No he's not. He knows at this stage he has a better chance at a ring with the Ravens than the Steelers. If he signed with the Steelers, that "ring" could depend on his own play...obviously he's no dummy! Thank the Good Lord he's not coming back.

Wouldn't mind Hoyer or Kafka and possibly keep one of them as a third for 2013.

Something has to be done with the back up situation. Leftwich and Batch are a couple years past replacing.

He's still holding out to be a starter. That thought alone makes him an idiot..

I don't know much about Hoyer but I did hear pretty good things about Kafka. I'd be happy with either....just not Tyler Palko
