View Full Version : What happened to Cedric Humes?

He was a big power runner drafted to try to grow into Jeromes old shoes. Came out of VA Tech which has been the source of some decent RB's in the NFL. Was cut to the practice squad last year. Is he still a Steeler and do you think he will make the team this year? With a new coach who doesn't play favorites he may want to give it another shot.

If I'm not mistake Cedric Humes was released off the practice squad sometime in the mid to later part of the season.
I don't know if any other team picked him up or not.

The Pittsburgh Steelers have signed free agent RB Cedric Humes (Steelers) to their practice squad.

On or around September 1, 2006, Humes was cut resulting in $30,000 in dead money - $10,000 counting in 2006 and the remainder, $20,000, counting in 2007. SO if he was resigned as Prosdo mentioned to they give him a new contract or is the old brought back into play? :dunno:

Once a player is cut his contract is voided so he'd have to come back with a new deal. He may have gotten a deal similar to the one he had before though. In any event, I know most of us including myself were psyched to get Humes and we really thought he was going to be something special, a diamond in the rough. Unfortunately he got lost in shuffle between all the RB's but maybe he'll be able to do something for us in camp this year.

I expect him to impress Tomlin enough to take a active roster spot for once where Duce was or a little higher. Humes is something of a diamond in the rough still in my opinion.

The competition will be fierce at RB to say the least, behind Willie. It's going to be fun to watch.

Humes was so overrated. He wasn't big at all and didn't have what it takes to play in the NFL IMO.

Apparently he was'nt that good if he was drafted late on day 2 and he could not keep a roster spot but the undrafted Kuhn was able to. He was a waste of draft pick like all the other past day 2 picks.
He was slow and could not move a pile. he played lighter than his weight.
