Just came down this afternoon; David Gilreath placed on active roster and Alameda Ta'amu released.

Saw this one coming, someone had to go, and Ta'amu was the most logical since he hasn't played this year yet. As long as AB is down with that ankle, Gilreath will remain on the roster.

Ta'amu........huge disappointment. I hope the kid gets his life back on track soon.

So who is going to be our NT for the future? McClendon? He proved that he can push the pocket when given the opportunity. Or are we going to draft another NT in this years draft?

Might just be "for the week."

wow. Just a wasted pick. So frustrating.

hardly a wasted pick, the dudes potential is unreal. and its not like this thing was a common occurance, its a shame he got so wasted and arrested that night, but hes been so remorseful ever since, its not like hes a bad guy.

shame he was released, classic example of not keeping a raw player long enough, which is infuriating considering they have kept way worse players way longer. i hope they bring him back

I agree. I don't think they should have quit on him.

First Saunders, now Ta'amu...............

Steelers ALWAYS keep the better players. PLEASE

Hope they bring him back, not confident that they will.

McClendon's job once Big Snack is gone.

I also agree 100% here. This kid is going to be a beast as long as he gets his head out of his a$$. I was so happy when the Steelers drafted him; shame to see him not contribute to anything this year. Makes you wonder if he would walk a straighter line if he were more involved. Not an excuse, just sayin. . .

AZ or Indy will sign him...

Wasted 4th round draft pick. Pisses me off to no end. We're likely going to have to draft another fairly soon. But this next draft, we need a safety and an OLB I think. Someone to get pressure on the QB for a change!!

I really can't see anyone signing him. He's looking at multiple felony charges that could put him in jail for years, not to mention that he barely made the team out of camp in the first place. Not exactly high on the list of desirability.

If Ta'amu doesn't sign elsewhere then I'm sure he will be back and Gilreath back down...Depends how long AB is out to.....

Sucks, he did something stupid and it possibly ruined his NFL career. Alot of a holes in
this league have done far worse and been given another chance. I wasn't so gung ho
as others were with this kid. He was a average NT on a mediocre Washington Huskies team.
With our desperate need for run stuffer's and push up the middle it troubled me that he couldn't
make the team and then his run in with the law sealed his fate. Doubt he comes back here.
Someone will take a gamble on him though.

I suspect he is gone because the Steelers legal team feels he will get time. No sense keeping a guy doing 1-3 in the pokey.

If they don't keep him there is plenty of NT in the draft that are better than him

Hopefully we can keep Gilreath out of the damn return game now too.

Tomlin needs to stop being a f*cking pussy when it comes to letting Rainey return punts. He's a brilliant punt returner, and with AB out, you put David f*cking Gilreath back there? Are you f*cking serious?
