Warren Sapp opened his big mouth and predicted the Steelers won't make the playoffs and will be lucky to finish over .500

This made me laugh

Whether we like it or not, it is his opinion, but aside from that - with all the ignorance he has demonstrated lately, wondering why he has yet to be fired from the NFL network.

Sapp knew that the Steeler Nation would get all torqued up. It's a ratings thing for him. Nobody really cares what he thinks.

I think I'd rather see Keyshawn Johnson than him.

Not much technical thinking from sapp, mostly emotional logic pours from warren.

emotional logic

This is an oxymoron, but you know what? I think it fits here! He is a total numbskull.

Jamie Dukes isn't much better. Unlike Warren Sapp, he can actually handle the English language, but the stuff that comes out of his mouth sometimes makes me wonder.

Speeed
05-31-2012, 10:52 AM
Honestly, that could happen. Football is a fickle sport. A few bad breaks, or a few injuries, or whatever, it is not outside the realm of possibility. I believe it is by far sillier when we as fans fail to admit that our team is invincible. It is not like the guy predicted 1 -15, that would and should raise some eyebrows.

Despite that, do I think we will do better than 8-8? Yes. We could feasibly lose two to the Bengals and the Ravens. Remember, we did not destroy any of our division rivals last year, and that was with a proven #1 defense. Don't get too smarmy people!

I'm not offended i'm amused i can't believe that NFLN would put him on the air .If they want to be taken seriously by the public and other networks fire Warren Sapp .He is a real dick he smacked a camera out of my sons hand.He had taken apicture of him after a Patriots game he started screaming "i don't click *******".I took that as he doesn't take pictures?

Perhaps, but I would point out that one of the greatest people to put on a Steelers uniform, Dirt Dawson, could not either. Of course he also does not exhibit ANY of the other personality traits that Sapp does. Dirt is a wonderful guy and loved down here in KY.

Sorry, I was not accusing you individually, but rather our fan base collectively as a whole. I agree, we are better on paper than the Ravens. But the Ravens are a tough team to beat under any circumstances. A shift in the wind or clod of dirt could end up being the deciding factor in games with the Ravens.

The problem with having Warren Sapp on TV is that people automatically assume that he's credible simply because he's been hired as a TV analyst. Proper analysis has to be objective and in-depth, which are two things that he hasn't proven to be capable of with his absolutisms, his transparent bias toward certain University of Miami players, and his reliance upon emotion.

The thing I hate is their talking over one another - I can't understand 50% of what is said when he and Marshall Faulk get started talking at the same time. Don't they have a producer to control some of that stuff? Who believes that that is good television? I can't really understand why he has lasted as long as he has.

Most of these former athletes are hard to stomach....Sapp, Faulk, Sharpe.....they have no command of the English language and can't form a coherent thought. Does anybody take these slugs seriously??

I can't understand half the things Sharpe says. He reminds me of the one Bill Cosby character.

I understand why former players are hired as analysts/commentators and unintentional comic relief. After a few years of being out of the game, most lose their value as the game progresses and their old teammates retire. They are easily replaced by new blood. Sapp will be a distant memory in a few months or less.

Collingsworth is here forever, though. :cursin:

Idiots like Warren always throw out some shock statement for attention and hope one year they will be right. Heck teams like the Steelers, Patriots and a few others always seem to find a way to make the playoffs each year and I wouldn't beat against them.

I can't blame the players for taking things like that personally although they should be used to it by now. If somebody always puts down your team eventually you'll say something.

Warren Sapp is a joke anyways, this type of stuff is just to boost his ratings with NFLN so they'll maybe keep him on board.

From ESPN:

The Steelers provided their rebuttal on Tuesday. “He has other issues. I don’t even want to talk about his other issues,” cornerback Ike Taylor told the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review, referring to Sapp recently filing for bankruptcy. “Man, he is worrying about the wrong thing right now. People are coming knocking at his door.”

Inside linebacker Larry Foote recounted the time when a teammate grabbed Sapp by the throat after he crossed Pittsburgh's stretching line before a 2002 game. “He came out there hopping like a little girl,” Foote said, “and they snatched them up. If he disagreed with what I said, have him call in. I am sure we have footage.”

This whole thing is ridiculous, Sapp is getting all this attention and he's just eating it up. He's a joke, a bad analyst, and his insight nothing more than pointless drivel.

It's the offseason, he's got nothing better to do.
