I couldn't agree more Lloyd's comments. I think most of us can appreciate where he is coming from. I wonder how long it will be before Goodell tries to fine him...lol

Former Pittsburgh Steelers (http://www.nfl.com/teams/pittsburghsteelers/profile?team=PIT) linebacker Greg Lloyd was always known as one of the toughest and hardest-hitting players in the NFL, so perhaps it's no surprise that he's not a fan of Commissioner Roger Goodell's efforts to improve player safety.Appearing at Bengals coach Marvin Lewis' golf tournament in Cincinnati over the weekend, Lloyd said some of the things Goodell has done have "really tainted the game."

"The point of it is that if the NFL and the league would get behind and start taking care of their older players and taking care of guys, they wouldn't have these issues. As opposed to saying, 'Hey, go out there, do it hard, then bang we're done with you.'""This is not PBS, it's not the public channel that you go watch. It's the National Football League, it's a violent freaking game," Lloyd told WXIX-TV in Cincinnati.Lloyd, who played for the Steelers from 1988 to 1997 and made several Pro Bowls, also complained about the current game's emphasis on offense.

"I don't want to see a game where the damn score is 75 to one or 75 to two, all this passing and passing. I want to see somebody hit a quarterback, ... that is what people come to see. And at the end of the day if he gets hurt, so be it."

Wouldn't have expected anything less from him.

I am with you, couldn't agree more. Goodell is a phony, just trying to cover his arse.

Lloyd was a scary dude ... he'd be an epic fail in Goodouche's NFL ... he'd have at least as many fines as Harrison ...

I too agree with Lloyd. It's nice when someone tells the absolute truth about the physicalities of football.

As expected with Lloyd. Head meet nail...

My boys played pop warner here in south florida on the same team dion sanders played on. the team is still in the neighborhood and they still have hamburger drills if you know what i mean. once the 10 year olds stop hitting in practice to learn the game and how to survive the big hits... this game of football will be overrun by lawyers and lawsuits. thats where it will officially end in the court rooms, im sure in the rich white commiunities they are already eliminating the hamburger drills and hard hits. it will be just like boxing.. the rough neighborhoods will produce all the players. lawyers cant make money in the hood.

Obviously. Anyone who experienced the NFL before Goodell would probably say the same thing.
