Malkin comes out of hiding, practices in L.A.

Evgeni Malkin has surfaced.

ESPN The Magazine E.J. Hradek reports the Pittsburgh Penguins prospect turned up in Los Angeles on Thursday, less than a week after Malkin abruptly left his home country of Russia and his Metallurg Magnitogorsk team.

Malkin skated with a group of NHL players, including Rob Blake and Mathieu Schneider, at the Kings' practice facility in El Segundo, Calif.

Malkin was not expected to make a public comment Thursday. His agents, Pat Brisson and J.P. Barry of the Creative Artists Agency, will instead likely release a statement.

"It's been a difficult week," Barry told The Sports Network of Canada. According to TSN, Barry met with Malkin on Saturday at an airport in Helsinki, Finland. Malkin then went into hiding while he awaited clearance for an American visa, which arrived Wednesday.

Great news for Penguins fans that he's safe and in the country which means he's safe from the Russian government. Also nice to see him back on the rink and not hiding under a blanket.

That had to be one of the oddest sequences of events that I've ever heard of in all the time Ive followed sports. It was like a soap opera. Hopefully it didnt screw up his head to much

You aren't kidding Dan! I was reading some of this stuff and I couldn't help but thinking what the heck. I'm glad to hear we might finally see him play.

Thanks for finding that :)

Things are looking much better than they were this time last week when no one knew where he was.

He's certainly not anything special to look at :dunno:

Yes, things are looking much better. I'm kind of excited about watching him and Crosby play this year. The Penguins have 2 of the best young players in the league now it would be nice if they could get the arena issue worked out as well as the sale.

Well Crosby,Staal and Malkin are gonna provide good help to the penguins. It will be interesting to see how these guys do this year. Good to see Malkin is over here.
