The Steelers released two players from their off-season roster -- running back Chad Spann and cornerback Antonio Smith.

Spann was signed to the practice squad Dec. 12,2011,and spent the remainder of the regular season there. He was signed to the active roster Jan. 4 and appeared on special teams in the AFC wild-card playoff loss in Denver.

Smith was signed to the Steelers offseason roster on Jan. 18. He originally entered the league as a rookie free agent with the Cleveland Browns in 2009.

Good classy move by the Steelers, as usual. Release these guys early and give them a chance to grab a spot elsewhere in the league.

With a strong draft as this, there will be more to follow.

Here we go Steelers,

Here we go

With all the running backs on the roster now there was no way that Span would be able to have a shot at the roster. The DB's are crowded with talent too. There will definitely be more to come. These two were pretty much obvious.

Yup. These were no brainers and as was mentioned, classy by the steelers to do it sooner rather than later.
