Immediately following the Mr. Irrelevant pick of the NFL draft every year (final draft pick), teams get on the phone and start calling college players who weren't drafted in any of the 7 rounds. Scott Brown from the Pittsburgh Tribune Review and Steelers.com tell us who those players are for the Steelers.

The 12 undrafted rookies include:

Punter - Drew Butler (Georgia),
Cornerback - Terry Carter (La. Tech)
Wide Receiver - Connor Dixon (Duquesne)
Safety - Robert Golden (Arizona)
Defensive end - Ikponmwosa Igbinosun (Southern Connecticut State)
Center/guard - Ryan Lee (Furman)
Linebacker - Brandon Lindsey (Pitt)
Wide receiver - Marquis Maze (Alabama)
Kicker - Grant Ressel (Missouri)
Linebacker - Adrian Robinson (Temple)
Offensive Tackle - Desmond Stapleton (Rutgers)
Defensive End - Jake Stoller (Yale)

Yes, finally a kicker!! Sean Suisham look out! LOL

I wonder how many times Tomlin and John Mitchell had to practice that name before calling him this evening! Ikponmwosa Igbinosun

#17 ranked Kicker Ressel ??

Entering this season, K Grant Ressel had missed three field goals in 46 chances. Through five games, Ressel has missed six kicks in 2011

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHHAAHAH AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA.

D@mn Bengals had a pretty good draft. We can't take them lightly. Last couple of years, they are making decent moves for some reason. They must have switched up on Mike Brown's medication.

I had Golden on an earlier mock. Kid is a project, but with time who knows. He has the size.

Also, Maze may be a name to watch. If it is the correct person I am thinking, I read an article stating there was not much drop off from him and Hightower, Maze just couldn't get playing time. It might be someone else, I am not sure.
Glad we got a kicker, but looks like he struggles a bit as well.

Jim Wexell confirmed, Offensive Tackle - Desmond Stapleton (Rutgers), is Darnell Stapleton's younger brother. Thought that was interesting.

My take on the UFAs

Robert Golden seems like he was born to be a Steeler, the way he plays ... He reminds me of Ryan Clark pt. 2 ... i think he def. makes the team

Adrian Robinson and Brandon Lindsey seem like decent pass rushing prospects ... maybe one makes the team ...will be a good battle to watch in training camp

Connor Dixon is real interesting propsect Huge and seems to flat out Fly

Alex Tanney i think he has a real good chance to make the team ... time to cut Leftwhich of Batch in favor of a younger guy with good potential ... not sure he'll ever be a star but he could be a solid backup

Passing for 14,249 yards put Alex Tanney atop the NCAA Division III record book. Firing 157 touchdown passes made him No. 1 in NCAA history for all divisions. Yet, for all Tanney accomplished as a Monmouth College quarterback, he’s still the guy from the small school. It was that way at Lexington High School, where Division I college recruiters looked at his impressive numbers, rubbed their chins and said, “We like him, but …” Now, the evaluating eyes belong to National Football League scouts, and Monmouth’s enrollment of 1,343 is a factor.

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Defensive lineman Ikponmwosa Igbinosun (http://www.southernctowls.com/roster.aspx?rp_id=1971) (Rahway, N.J.), who recently completed his senior season as a member of the Southern Connecticut State University football team, has signed as a free agent with the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Igbinosun enjoyed a standout senior season in which he collected All-Northeast-10 Conference, All-ECAC and Don Hansen's Football Gazette All-Region honors. He ranked fourth on the club – and tops among defensive linemen – with 58 tackles, while leading the team in sacks (7), tackles for loss (12) and quarterback hurries (8). His seven sacks ranked fourth in the conference. Igbinosun also tied for the team lead in forced fumbles and fumble recoveries.

I agree with the Maze pick. I was doing some digging on him. He's an exciting player!

Maze is the most intriguing of the bunch. A receiver and return specialist who was a key member of the Alabama offense and special teams, Maze could provide a significant spark for the Steelers if he first can make the team.

What a bonus it would be if a few of these UDFA's can make the team.....we knocked it out of the park during the draft....these UDFA's would be icing on the cake
