According to Ed Bouchette (http://www.post-gazette.com/stories/local/breaking/byron-leftwich-returns-to-steelers-633276/), the Steelers have agreed to terms on a new contract for Byron Leftwich.
The Steelers and Byron Leftwich have come to terms on a contract, the quarterback told the Post-Gazette tonight in a text.
That will reunite him with Charlie Batch as the team's two backup quarterbacks in 2012.
With the re-signing of Charlie Batch this month, that means both veteran quarterbacks will again return to back up starter Ben Roethlisberger. Batch and Leftwich were each unrestricted free agents as is another, Dennis Dixon, who is not expected to resign with the Steelers.
So what does this mean for the draft? The Steelers taking a QB is unlikely at this point. It's not like they were going to go for one in the high or even mid rounds anyway but with both guys back and then you throw in Troy Smith and Jerrod Johnson, it appears they'll be taking their chances on the veterans again.
This doesn't mean that both Batch and Lefty will ultimately make the final roster come September, but at this point both of the young guys will have to have a super camp and preseason to knock off those two.
