View Full Version : The other Linebacker position in the 1st round for the Steelers?

Been hearing some rumblings recently, and it seems to be catching a bit of steam, that the Steelers could consider linebacker in the first round...outside linebacker that is.

Hightower still seems to be everyone's popular choice for the Steelers, and I certainly can't argue that. Nice Perry out of USC is a first rounder projected to go mid to late first round. Many feel the Packers are targeting in but is there a chance the Steelers might be looking this way too? You never know. After the complete lack of pass rush while Woodley was out and Harrison missed a month's worth of games, depth here wouldn't be the most outlandish idea I've come across.

Plus they met with him yesterday at their facility.

What if they feel Foote is the stop gap they need for the time being and that Sylvester is ready to take the next step. If that were to be the case you could see where a guy like Perry could fit in nicely.

Just something to chew on...

perry is a little stiff to play OLB i think. And hightower could very easily play OLB full time if a team drafted him to. I hate worilds, but i wonder how they feel about carters development

The last year was hard to judge any OLB ... I didnt see any magic from any of them. If it were up to last years results i would trade them all and start over.

Carter looks small to me .I think they are gonna take Worthy from michigan state as Hampton's replacement.or Hightower he could play both in a pinch

I liked what little I saw of Carter. I don't know yet about Stephenson, but he seems to have a good "Steeler" LB mentality. Too early to pull the plug on either of these two (look how long it took Harrison to make it). Maybe their thoughts are moving Worlids inside. Who knows?

Safety wouldn't be aweful to take in the mid rounds

What about the thought of changing Woirlds to ILB? I don't think it would be a bad idea considering he only played marginal at OLB.

If there is a OLB to be moved inside, it would be Harrison. He would be unbelievable.
