The Broncos are visiting with Pittsburgh reserve quarterback Dennis Dixon (http://espn.go.com/nfl/player/_/id/11390/dennis-dixon). His visit started before Denver signed QB Caleb Hanie (http://espn.go.com/nfl/player/_/id/11540/caleb-hanie). Hanie has the inside track to back up Peyton Manning (http://espn.go.com/nfl/player/_/id/1428/peyton-manning) in Denver, but the Broncos are still interested in signing Dixon to compete with Hanie during training camp.

If Dixon is signed, Denver may still draft a quarterback to develop.

From ESPN (http://espn.go.com/blog/afcwest/post/_/id/42148/afc-west-notes-70)

I remember when we drafted him, I was hoping after a year to recover after the knee injury he might be the long term backup to Ben and eventually see Batch go to 3rd string. Just never worked out though for him so good luck man.

Just last offseason Dixon wanted to be traded/released to compete for a starting position... Now he's looking at going to a team where he'll be the 3rd stringer at best.

Dennis should stay in Pittsburgh, work to get better, and take over the backup job. It's attainable, he knows the offense. Why go somewhere else and start from scratch.

I hope they don't expect him to throw the football, he sucks!

He know's Ba's offense not Haley's offense

He would be a good backup in Washington after they sign RG3.

Glad he's off of our team! looking forward to getting a real backup QB. Batch, Dixon, Leftwich have been horrible.

Have you actually seen the record of the team with those guys at QB? It's definately not horrible!!!

Arians never made a game plan for Dixon, he screwed him up right out of the gate.

Arians is a loser..

Good for him! Maybe he'll get that starting position he was after.

Lol.

I was thinking he'd end up in Indianapolis to be Luck's back-up since he knows Arians offense. I would think that would be a good fit for him. If Luck would get hurt, then Dixon could step right in and the offense wouldn't suffer as much as if some guy that doesn't know the system being thrown in there. Wherever he goes, I hope he gets a chance to play sooner rather than later.

Nobody knows Arians' offense. Arians doesn't even know Arians' offense.

:plus1:

I gotta think it would be in Dixon's best interest to stay as far away from Arians as possible. When Dixon had to start for the Steelers Arians gameplan for him was brutal.

Dixon knoes what he's doing. Denver opens against Pittsburgh second series Harrison hits Manning Dixon becomes the new starter Denver finishes 0-16. End of story. :)

Nice analogy…but rather see Harrisson play without hitting anybody in the head.

You are a 5/16 inch wrench in a metric only tool box. Just kiddin. I like metaphors.

It's the off season.
