Gay would have look good 49er uniform. Too bad and imagine the uniforms they would have sold to the fans specially if they gave him the number 69 ?

Maybe next year we could trade our best WR for a 4th round pick then trade that pick for Gay back?

This was a no brainer move, I'm sure the Cards offered more than the Steelers did. Now, will he turn out like McFadden did when he went there?

Gay isnt a cover cb so chances are he fades away. Cards still have a middle of the road def and Gay doesn't do anything to make it better. As for him being the next Mcfadden and returning in a year or so. Nope I don't ever see him in a Steeler uniform again.

Adios, Willie gay! Enjoy Pitt West! Now, time for a young-blood player to get in there. About time imo.

Gay was a punk-*** who thought he was better than he actually was.

I already forgot his name.

This is wonderful news! I don't know why more teams didn't pick on him over the years. Seems like 99% of passes thrown his way were caught. He couldn't even stop a TD with pass interference (Torrey Smith).

Could care less about William Gay. Just another Steeler reject in AZ.

where the hell did this come from? nothing punk *** about gay, he was a standup guy while he was here and while he had his ups and downs he was a great NB for us when he didnt have to cover TO or gronk. ridiculous that everyone hates him so much for phantom reasons when really it was just cause of the occasions he got burned, just like every CB

not saying hes irreplaceable because i like cortez and brown and think brown will play nicely in the NB role, but he was our 2nd best CB and did come up big multiple times to put games away

Only in Steeler Nation is a guy blasted for a perfect pass to arguably the best pass catching TE in the NFL, not to mention that the play in question happened 2 years ago.

We need more fast tall CB's like Myron, Ike, Allen

Newly-signed CB William Gay can play S in a pinch -- a skill that made recently departed free agent Richard Marshall (Dolphins) so valuable. Gay started 15 games last season for the Steelers at CB, but his role is not assured with the Cards. While Arizona would have liked to have Marshall back, they will get CB Greg Toler back this season. Toler, who was expected to start at one CB spot, tore his ACL in a preseason game last year against the Chargers.

I'm guessing Gay will be cut after TC and if we really need him back I think we could have him cheap..

The Steelers "D" has always managed to plug in somebody new and not miss a beat. I wish Gay good luck with the Arizona Steelers.

Put your money where your money where your mouth is, I've got $100 that says the Cards don't cut him after training camp 2012.

gay is easily their second best CB already and easily their most polished

A year ago I would have been absolutely ecstatic about this news. I'm kind of indifferent now I guess. It doesn't break my heart to see him go but he really became a great role player on defense for us this past season. I wish him luck in Pittsburgh West.

LOL, decent CB's aren't a dime a dozen, WR are I guess....

I'm gonna go out on a limb and say that CB is probably one of the hardest positions to play in the NFL. Like Latrobe said, it isn't easy to find a good or even decent CB.

Anyone worth playing is going to be retained. Steelers must some high hopes for Lewis / Allen / Brown.

I thought Gay played well in 2011 with some inconsistensies here and there. They shoulve signed him for at least one more year...
