Not too much of a shocker. Another 3.5ish million cap money gone with Mcfade and Battle. As said keep the cap hits coming. :tt02:

good riddance. mcfadden showed greatness early but plateued so hard and then was just always hurt

battle has never brought anything to the table

I agree that Battle never amounted to much (special teams), but we added WR Juamorris Stewart. Why?

Stewart has no dominant physical traits, poor work ethic and takes plays off on running downs.

This is a guy we want on our practice squad?

I always liked McFadden but like Ktrain said the dude never got past those injuries. He should have been cut in the last round of roster moves before the season last year.

Battle may not have always made the play on special teams but he did his job so others could. They won't lose much on special teams though with him gone; Baron Batch will be a beast in that role in 2012 when he gets back on the field.

I like many other Steelers fans will always be grateful to Bryant McFadden for breaking up that pass to Reggie Wayne in the end zone in that amazing playoff game in 2005 against the Colts in Indy which lead to the Steelers of course going on to win Super Bowl XL. People will always talk about the Ben tackle on Nick Harper in that game after the Bettis fumble, but a lot of people tend to forget the play McFadden made on Reggie Wayne on an absolutely perfect thrown ball by Peyton Manning on 2nd down after the Colts got the ball back and before Vanderjact shanked the game tying FG was absolutely huge. Say what you want but the Steelers dont win that game if McFadden doesnt make that play on Wayne it's as simple as that...

AB was a waste of space period, BM was never the same once he left, I wonder who's next?

Add another 3.5 to the savings. That's 10 mil in the last 2 days, and they have more to do.

that game was one of my favorite ever steelers game . their was many big plays in that game , how about the interception refused on Polamalu , that was terrible , I dont remember the Mcfadden play, but I have the game ,like all others on DVD , would have to go check it out.
Macfadden wasn't great but their always was a big dropoff after him , that's what made his career !

You know who's next. We all know the players that need to be cut. We do need to get younger across the board. I know change makes everyone uncomfortable but we need to make atleast 3 changes to the starters on both sides of the ball. We are purging; let's not be fearful; let's embrace it as improvement.

Man, I hear ya......and I agree. But everytime one of our own gets close to the end of his career I can't help but remember seeing Franco Harris in that f*cking puke *** seahawks uniform. As a kid, that damn near broke my heart.
