I'm not sure if this was posted or not. If so, I apologize.

I know that some of you wanted the Steelers to take this kid in the draft. Well, I guess it's better late than never. :yellowthumb:

More than likely a ST'er and back-up but you certainly can't fault the kid's smarts and efforts as a former Rhoades' Scholar.

Welcome aboard.

I think he was a stretch because he actually was learning things and went to england for a year or so. he must have some brain power... maybe he can get it together. Come on Lake dial him up. Steelers like the smart players..

Rolle was an impressive player during his time at Florida State University making 35 starts at the strong safety position and recording 206 total tackles in his college career. He decided to give up his senior season in order to attend Oxford in order to work on and achieve a Rhodes Scholarship.

After being drafted by the Tennessee Titans, the club released him on September 2, 2011. While highly regarded as an intelligent player, Rolle lacks elite speed and some scouts suggest he does not possess the athleticism to play at the NFL level. Regardless, Rolle is a player of high character and it’s nice to see him get another chance at breaking into the NFL ranks regardless of how high the obstacles facing him might be.

He's got a website (http://myronrolle.com/meet-myron/overview/)with good information about his career and interests.

He had chances to make the Titans roster but couldn't pull it off. If he makes the team he could push Mundy (assuming they bring him back) for his spot but that's a long way off yet. He's got the intelligence to play, that's for sure, but let's see if he can translate into on the field production.

hes slow, but hell so is ryan clark.

super talented regardless of speed...at the very minimum should be an excellent special teamer. low risk high reward

More speed training.... As much as possible...

Fischer was his first coach right?

I like the signing. Bye Will Allen. He's smart enough to learn this complicated Defense and contribute and possibly take over for Ryan Clark as Secondary QB. :)

Type of guy that is easy to root for and really its worth a shot to see if he can offer anything.....

Good point, he'll have his chance to make this team. Allen is a veteran though that plays special teams and in the secondary when needed so Rolle will have to fill both roles. He'll definitely come cheap though so they may be able to get a bargain out of him.

I like this pick up, lets see what Lake can do with him. He seems to be working wonders for C. Allen, maybe he can help Rolle too.

Lake has indeed done wonders with the defensive backs, the improvement this year has been staggering. If there is anyone that can bring this kid along, it's him.

I'm actually excited about a few of these new offseason pickups so far. Most of them are just training camp fodder but Troy Smith and now this kid could make some waves.

why do you think he wont make it?
He is highly Intelligent and will learn this Defense. Mike Tomlin liked him pre draft and he worked out that summer with Ike Taylor & James Farrior. Ryan Clark isn't getting any younger and he will need to be replaced soon. I think he has a shot with a full off season program.

I like this pick up i thought the team should of picked him up in the draft, he offers low risk and a potential high reward as a ST'er, but I dont seem him being a starter anytime soon
