Were Tim Tebow's final- play heroics for
the Broncos against the Steelers divine
intervention or inaction by the officials
during Sunday's playoff game?
Upon further review, it appears as though
the Broncos may have been lined up in an
illegal formation...

You have to love Mike Pereira (not) If an official stabbed a player he would tell you," it only appears that way, what's really happening is the player on the ground is doing reverse pushups into the knife".

Next to John Harbough, Pereira is the one person I'd love to take a swing at.

Mike Pereira, the NFL's former Vice President of Officiating, was asked on Twitter whether Tebow's winning touchdown pass was an illegal formation.

"Watch on any Sunday. This is a good formation compared to many. They are not technical with this," Pereira responded, after seeing the picture accompanying this article.

They are not technical with this? What are they supposed to be as officials, surely they can count!!! Oh wait, it's Ron Winters crew...never mind..

Formations are often one of the most overlooked aspect of each game. How many times do tackles line up literally in the backfield on pass protection plays? The only time I ever see illegal formations called is when coaches on the sideline are screaming at the officials.

I'm not shocked the officials were one sided all day!

As long as 7 guys are with in a yard of the LOS you are allowed to line up in the backfield. There is a HUGE advantage to the blocker if he can get an extra yard to react to a rushing defender. I can deal with the guy being back an extra foot...ok 2 feet...but the guy is easily 2 yards if not more back from the LOS. That's 6-8 feet back. His head is not even up to the centers butt. If you look at it, it looks to me like he was about to go in motion. Another reason this is illegal....if the defender thinks you are going in motion...then the ball is snapped...you are totally caught off guard. Not a reason we lost...but just another example of how horrible the officials are. It's either fixed OR they are incompetent. Take your pick and fix it MR Goodell.

BTW I watched the video because I thought the snap was right before the guy goes into motion.... not the case... He lined up that far back and stayed there.

Really, does anyone still care? This team was so decimated with injuries that even if they would have lucked out and won they would have been fodder for New England. If the Steelers were healthy heading into this game and got beat the way they did, I would be upset, but that wasn't the case.

Besides, the Steelers had more than one chance to win this game, but the offense couldn't score and the defense couldn't stop that Denver powerhouse. If they were a good (or maybe more accurately, healthy) team the game wouldn't have ended the way it did.

Steelers would have won if that snap didn't get passed Ben. But oh well, what can you do? I can't wait to see what moves are going to made during the offseason.

Something else that I have to say: I would rather lose to Tebow than Brady again. Too many memories of seeing that.

Steelers would have won if a lot of things did or didn't happen.

Yeah, I look at Martz to be more of the same for this team. He can put together great game plans, but he can also put together some real stinkers. There is also an apparent learning curve and it is still a big play, deep ball offense. I would rather keep Arians simply due to the experience that the players have in his system.

The two guys who I coveted were Norv Turner and Todd Haley, but Norv is staying in San Diego and Haley is going back to Arizona, so they're out.

Perhaps Brady would have smashed us and perhaps you guys don't care about this record but I do...

Steelers & Cowboys tied at 33 playoff wins.

I saw that too and really wanted to snag it but it didn't happen...

Go TEBOW!!

There were way too many missed calls in that game. Illegal formation, face masks on Tebow, holding on Harrison, helmet to helmet on Wallace, that lateral ruled incomplete pass... the officiating was as bad as the STEELERS played...

Thank God we're Steeler fans. We always have next season. :tt02:

I aint worried about it. No matter what the Steelers are out of the playoffs. It aint gonna make any difference who shows/says/complains about what.

The Steeler front office will get a letter from the League officials apologizing for their mistake.... We will post it along with the 2007 playoff game letter vs Jax for the NON CALL holding on Garrard's 40 yard scamper to set up the GW FG

Nice officiating crew vs denver, I guess they can tell us what Tebow tastes like, since they were on his johnson all night.......

"There is nothing to this," NFL spokesman Greg Aiello told NFL.com on Tuesday. "This is a legal formation. This should not have been flagged."

That guy cracks me up. He just verified that - the "officiating" in the league is no "official." So, the refs don't bother with technical things. Like what, the rules? His answers cause more questions than they answer. When he shows up on TV I sigh - he never gives a straight answer and it is very apparent he if full of it, and will never say the officials screwed up.

Officiating in the league is a sad state of affairs, for all teams. Officials should be draftable in Fantasy Football, because the head of officiating and his crew sure are living in a fantasy world.

It actually was a legal play to begin with so this is basically a non-issue. It was a frustrating way and horrible finale to a season of missed opportunities for the Steelers but it is what it is at this point and us as fans and the Steelers as a team have to live with what happened in the game Sunday and move on and hopefully this team can get better in the off-season because it still has enough talent on it to compete for a Super Bowl the next few seasons...Changes need to be made though in order for the Steelers to get back to the big dance and get to the next level once again...

With Tebow being a higher being it wouldn't of mattered if we had 18 defenders out there he'd parted the sea and scored regardless..

That is a pretty good summary of what I saw. Time to move on.
