This is what happens when you aren't healthy in the playoffs... You lose to the f'ing Broncos and a quarterback that threw for only 60 yards on the Chiefs the week before.

I was one of the few willing to accept a healthy 5 seed but I still feel like a Caps fan. The decision makers failed us and I'm starting to question where their interest really lies.

Do you really believe it wouldn't have been better to have a first round bye and a home game?
The coaching staff made a decision and stuck with it,was it the right one?? It is easy to second guess now,but if there was still a chance at a first round bye ,I believe you have to go for it...
Would it have been easier to throw in the towel and have Ben healthier on a few weeks rest? Nobody will know that answer, but you can always play in that second guess world if you want.

After being out-coached against San Francisco, Tomlin should've made the best coaching decision he could've made by benching Roethlisberger for the last two weeks. If we ended up with the bye then he would've had 4 weeks off. If we didn't get the bye, then he would've had 3 weeks off.

Would Roethlisberger have been 100%? Probably not, but at least the Broncos wouldn't have been able to create a game plan against a quarterback that they knew for a fact was injured.

Tomlin got out-coached because he revealed his cards to the opposing coach. "Hey Fox, my quarterback is hurt and immobile, what are you going to do?"

Fox responded.

The first round bye could have made a world of difference but we'll never know. Ben gets another week of rest, Pouncey possibly is able to go, you don't lose Keisel, Starks, and Hampton. Maybe things are different, maybe not but having a first round bye is what every coach will shoot for every time.

I was with you StillersSound; one of the few. Tomlin went "all in" in trying win Division, even when the odds dictated the wiser course was to accept WC seed and get healthy. Team was mismanaged and ill-prepared for making any kind of play-off run. Very disappointing to say the least.

I don't like that we lost, but i'm glad because we were way to banged up,now we pick no less than 21 and if we make the right adjustments i REALLY like our chances, i always say that if we are healthy we can beat anybody it wasn't meant to be for us this year... we will be better and different looking because of the cap space next year and i'm excited, we will have atleast a new OC hopefully a new DC to:crossfingers:

Would it really though? They got even more banged up then they were trying to get it. They were given 10 days until the San Fran game and we saw how that ended. You really think if they had this week off a different team would have showed up this weekend?

The pro bowl snubbed Ike Taylor? :hilarious: He is who we thought he was.

What do you mean, "everybody that wanted a first round bye." I thought everybody did want a first round bye...isn't that kind of the goal of every team in the NFL going into the playoffs?

I thought Super Bowl was the goal... And being healthy > regular season accolades.

Going into the playoffs, everyones goal is to be seeded as high as possible. Why would you not want a first round bye?

The bottom line is you cant get swept by your division rival two games especially the way they lost the 2nd game here in Pittsburgh with the 92 yard drive by Flacco and still expect to be able to win the division and get a bye in the playoffs. As I wrote in the other thread the Steelers had their chances this season to write a lot of their wrongs and they failed miserably to do so everytime there was an opportunity presented to them...

To get healthy for a playoff run? A healthy Steelers team wins that game and moves on.

You don't think the health of our defense had anything to do with last night?? what are you drinking?? we were down to 3 healthy linemen, missing our starting safety and a less then healthy Woodley,.How can you sit there with a straight face and say that the health of the defense had nothing to do with it?? If Clark is playing I'm pretty sure Ike would have had the help over the top it looked like he was expecting on that last play...for that matter if Clark was playing how much more help would have been provided all night long!!

And it was also you who explain the scenarios each week at how we can get a bye :yellowthumb:

Ben should have played against SF. Absolutely the right call there. However once the Steelers lost to the niners he should have been shut down for the rest of the regular season.

Charlie Batch should have been more than capable of beating St. Louis and Cleveland.

100% truth.

If you need your starting quarterback to beat the Rams and the Browns, then the team must obviously not be so "offensively equipped" as many are claiming it to be. And if it is that "offensively equipped," then Tomlin is an idiot who doesn't know how to bench his star player so he can get healthy or he is an idiot that feels he can't win without riding his injured star player.

Exactly, I'm really starting to question Tomlin after this season. He has his gang of back-up quarterbacks, THREE, we have three f'ing back up quarterbacks and not one can step in and play against some of the worst teams in the NFL. Even the game Ben sat he had to hobble around on the bench because they didn't trust Dixon.

I'm starting to think he's becoming to much of a "players coach" and keeping friends around. They need to keep whoever they think is the best, cut the other 2 and draft the future here soon. Such a waste of roster spots, they could have 2 more much needed offensive linemen.
