View Full Version : Official Pirates Thread
19-20 at this point in the season..... .500 still in reach....AND....a better record than the Yankees! Here's hoping Doumit only has a short DL stay.

Its so unfortunate that Doumit can't stay healthy and particularly when its due to no fault of his own. The reason the team is coming back around is obviously the pitching starting to come back to form. Good to see, passing that 30-30 mark is definitely a possibility then we can go from there.

Fantasy Baseball Question..... I have both McLouth and Doumit on my roster, do you see them both continuing too put up the numbers they currently are all season :dunno: or should I trade one or both while there value is high

I guess its time to resurrect this long dead thread, who do you want for the next manager? Early word is Eric Wedge is the top guy, I wouldn't have much of a problem with him. I would like to see someone outside of the Pittsburgh Cleveland connection but I don't see that happening.

A. HE COULD PROLLY DO A BETTER JOB
B. SO HE'D STAY OFF OUR SIDELINES N QUIT CALLING DRAW PLAYS ON THE 2 YR LINE...

Curious if you guys have any opinions on who on the big club is part of the future and who is simply taking up space?
First two absolutely, Alvarez has the goods but needs consistency, is Walker a long term guy or a one year wonder? I'm going to hope long term. Meek and Hanrahan are the only pitchers we have on the big club worth a damn.
Jones needs to bounce back and show this year was a sophomore slump, Snyder needs to settle back into his role after the trade and be the player he was in years prior. Maholm needs help from the rest of the damn team and it would really help if he stepped up to be a solid 2 instead of a 3-4 guy.
Other than that guys like Duke and Doumit are gone more than likely, the mess of light hitting mediocre fielding infielders are just that a mess with mediocrity as the high point. Likewise the outfield outside of the top 2 is a mess of Jones and the failed prospects of Milledge and Moss? The pitchers aren't even worth discussing they are so bad. Lets hope McDonald and Lincoln help out next year.
For all the press about being done with talent acquisition we are still in big trouble, this could easily go 20 years.

Well we can scratch Wedge, Gibbons, and now the hometown candidate Macha off the list of possible managers. From what I've read they may be waiting for Tony Pena who is now available since the Yankees were eliminated.

The latest rumor has them looking at Clint Hurdle, the man who took the Rockies to the world series and is currently the batting coach for the Rangers
