PITTSBURGH — The Pittsburgh Steelers signed four players to its Reserve/Future list, the team announced today.

The Steelers signed punter Mike Barr, wide receiver Gerran Walker, and linebackers Derek Rehage and Richard Koonce to contracts.

The Steelers also announced that Walker, Rehage, Koonce and defensive back Grant Mason, whom the team signed on Jan. 12, were allocated to NFL Europa.

Guess they are preparing for Gardocki to call it quits :dunno:

Barr has been with the Steelers the past two years in training camp/pre-season but they still kept Gardocki. I thought last year in pre-season that Barr punted better then Gardocki.

Enter Barr. Exit Gardocki. I think that's a good idea. Barr was the better punter in camp.

:plus1: Barr will have his best chance ever of becoming our punter this year.

I think I want to see them go with the younger guy in Barr also... I read that he led NFL Europe in punts inside the 20 for the last three seasons.

i say we do what was suggested by someone on this forum and just draft the best punter in the draft with a fourth rounder, not like we ever use it on someone that actually makes the team....might as get something we can use

Barr definately outperformed Gardocki last year in camp, if he can't make the team this year there is something seriously wrong because Chris stunk up the joint this year, I think his net was like 10 yds

Barr played three seasons (2004-06) in NFL Europe with the Frankfurt Galaxy. He led the league in punts inside the 20-yard line in each of his three seasons (20 in 2006; 16 in 2005; 18 in 2004). During his NFL Europe career Barr punted 137 times for 5,306 yards (38.7 avg.) with 54 punts inside the 20-yard line. Definitely get old *** Gardocki outta here.....thanx for the effort bro but your outta here.

I am for Barr being our future Punter. Gardocki certainly did stunk up the join this past season, very well put.

A walk-on linebacker that is a punter, WHOA NELLIE!!! I wouldn't mind this guy for a punter. WOW!!! You imagine him hitting full force on a returner, POW!!!

One is a former linebacker and one runs a 4.50/40... Maybe they can tackle the returner before he scores.

Barr's 38.7 average may be offset by the fact he led the league in punts inside the 20...
