First Half

Not probably, clearly if you ask me, the best first half of Steelers football we've watched all year long.

After a couple of 3 and outs to start the game the offense got rolling and rattled off 21 points through the midway part of the 2nd quarter. With Mendenhall's 2 TD's and Wallace's nifty footwork in the endzone the offense looked like you'd expect them to look against the Bengals. Make no mistake though this isn't your old Bengals and they won't lay down, and did not. After cutting the score to 21-7 on an AJ Green TD where he clearly beat Ike Taylor and forcing a Steelers punt on the next series, they had momentum. However the Steelers defense stepped up thei game even with out Woodley in the lineup and forced a punt from deep in Bengals endzone. AB returns it 60 yds for a TD and it's 28-7 going into the locker room.

Ben: 7/11, 99 yds. 1 TD
Mendenhall 8 rushes, 34 yds. 2 TD's.
Mike Wallace: 1 catch, 12 yds, 1 TD.
Antonio Brown, 1 catch, 45 yds, and a punt return TD

Not to mention the Stevenson Sylvester strip on special teams that Emmanuel Sanders recovered. The AB punt return for a TD and the special teams block of the Bengals first drive FG attempt.

Kapinos had 57 and 59 yd. punts, breaking his record.

That's as complete a first half as you'll see from this team, period.

2nd Half:

The Steelers didn't put up 28 points but the defense keep the pressure on with James Harrison racking up his 3rd sack of the game, Ziggy Hood and Brett Keisel getting regular pressure on Andy Dalton.

Ike Taylor and Keenan Lewis were solid overall, although Ike was beaten a few times that fortunately didn't amount too much.

By midway through the 4th quarter Bengals Coach Marvin Lewis pulled Andy Dalton, and the Steelers did the same with Ben. Roethlisberger finished with a 117.3 passer rating on the day.
Pouncey also was pulled, and although not happy about it, it was the right move with the game in hand.

Final key stats on the day for the Steelers:

Ben: 15/23 176 yds. 2 TD's
Mendenhall: 16 rushes, 60 yds. 2 TD's.
Wallace: 3 catches, 38 yds, 2 TD's.
Brown: 2 catches, 67 yds, Punt return for TD
Ward: 5 catches for 30 yds. Needs 10 more to reach 1000

Harrison: 6 Tackles, 3 Sacks
Ike Taylor: 2nd interception on last 2 weeks
Cam Heyward: Blocked FG and a tipped pass.

Great game and great effort. I think it was complete performance in all phases. Lets hope Woody's hammy will be ok...I favor keeping him out next week and getting rested up for the playoffs. Hamstrings take a while to heal.

I am proud of them today. We really stepped things up after last week's poor offensive performance.

Good overall game by the whole squad today. BA actually called a decent
game and we got some breaks on both sides of the ball.
On a side note,Kapinos is looking great so far since he's been back.
That boy can boot it and knows how to place the ball. Bye Sep.!:yellowthumb:

It would be nice if we had a run game that could control the clock but the result of the overall game was awesome!

Great play in all aspects of the game! This team is hard to beat when they are executing.

Anytime there's that big of a jump in points, it's gotta be a complete game. Don't see that too often from the Steelers.

I just mentioned to a friend how nice it was to relax while watching a game rather than sitting on the edge of my seat cursing.

what a difference a week makes. against the chiefs they looked like dog doo...this week they looked the best team in the league.

i said in the game thread, THIS is what we should see every week! i'm not saying we should beat every team by 28, but we SHOULD see them play a little more consistent.

like others have said, it was nice to sit through and watch a game where you didn't have to feel tense, nauseous, and frustrated!

now let's get 2 games in a row like this one...DESTROY THE DOO DOO BROWNS!

oh, and it was such a beat down that CBS left the game here in raleigh, and went to the skins/jets game.

special thanks to Farrior Fan for providing me with a link to watch the rest of it online!

These next 4 games should, in theory, be an opportunity for the Steelers to put more games together like they had against the Bengals.

If you can't get on a roll against the Rams and the Browns twice then you're probably doing something wrong. Even with the AFC North being a tough battle on any given week the Steelers should be able to take care of business and not be in such a dog fight every week. That's just not how it usually works out for our team but for anybody else it probably would.

A great game... but in true arians fashion, we scored 0 in a qtr....... the first....

84 is the bomb... i think 89 should be playing more than 88...

85 looked better in this one. but... 82 is still better than 85....
