I am rapidly losing respect for the NFL. I see disgusting inconsistency in the officiating in virtually every game I watch. Yesterday's Steeler game had as many horrid calls as any of them and it seems to be getting worse every year under Goodell........why does this guy get a pass from everyone?

Every week the commentators are befuddled by the officiating they see yet nobody ever ties it back to Goodell's personal campaign?

Stop the rampant HGH and PED use and the injuries will take care of themselves.

Is the sky blue? Is the grass green? Will the Brown finish at the bottom of the AFC North again?

There's no doubt I'm sick to death of the officials being so inconsistent. Either call the game tight or call it loose but just make up your mind. You call one hit based on your judgement yet you fail to call another that's atleast blatantly as obvious as the first, again based on your judgement.

It's not just against the Steelers I see it, it's league wide..

Plenty of teams getting f'd every giving weekend...

The officiating has been inconsistent. That's the biggest problem. If something is a penalty, it's a penalty no matter if the Browns are playing the Chargers or the Steeler are playing the Ravens. But things seem to be called different from game to game and even play to play.

Yes. I mean, you can always complain, they are humans and will make mistakes but the commish has it made it so hard to call a consistent game with all the "safety" rules he has had the "safety committee" implement, it will not get better.

It's been going on for years in all sports. There's no doubt that it's worse now in the NFL but being an NHL fan I'm used to it.

Exactly. In the NFL, I lay blame for the inconsistency firmly at the feet of the Commish. He has made it very difficult for officials and not just on the safety issue. There is no consistency on pass interference and holding calls (or lack thereof) have become an absolute abomination.

Officiating across the board has always been questionable, but IMO, it became worse in the age of instant replay. I'm one of the few who hate everything about replay and would love nothing more than to see it gone. It has made officiating more difficult because refs are constantly suffering from the big brother over their shoulder. Not too mention how it completely interrupts the flow of games. Players make mistakes on every play and we live with it so I'm OK living with mistakes by officials rather than constantly sit through these challenges. Didn't Gary Kubiak get an unsportsmanlike penalty yesterday for challenging a TD?
