View Full Version : 49ers defense or Steelers defense?

Do you think the 49ers defense is really better than that of our beloved Steelers? I heard their LB core was much better. With players such as Aldon Smith, Patrick Willis, Navarro Bowman, Ahmad Brooks. What do you think?

They are playing very well as a unit right now. They are shutting down the run, forcing turnovers and are getting decent pressure on opposing QBs. Given the health of the Steelers linebackers, I don't think it is too far off to say San Francisco's are doing better this season.

Patrick Willis, who is by far the best MLB in the game, is the only linebacker they have that is better than any of ours. The other three can't hold their jocks. Though Aldon Smith is having a nice rookie season.

Both defenses are good, but I would hardly say the 49ers linebackers are head and shoulders above the Steelers linebackers.
Even though they are banged up and starting younger players, they are still getting the job done and making plays. The unique thing is that even with Farrior being out, Harrison being out, they are still playing well enough to win. Plus consider the hole that they dug themselves in September vs the run. They are still trying to climb out of that.
So far this season.
Pass Defense: Steelers #1, 49ers #21
Rush Defense: 49ers #1, Steelers #8
Overall the Steelers have the more well rounded defense but clearly the 49ers are playing better vs the run right now.
