If there's one guy that'll knock Welkers a$$ out of this game It's Clark.:yesnod:

It's no secret that the New England Patriots (http://espn.go.com/nfl/team/_/name/ne/new-england-patriots)' passing game revolves around Wes Welker (http://espn.go.com/nfl/player/_/id/5941/wes-welker). He is the league leader in receptions (51) and targets (75), and he's the only player with at least 55 targets who hasnít dropped a pass yet this season.

But what's the secret to stopping him? Steelers safety Ryan Clark (http://espn.go.com/nfl/player/_/id/4301/ryan-clark) has an idea.

"As far as my part, anytime you get guys who are going to catch-and-run and who run a lot of inside routes, you have to pound on them," Clark told The Pittsburgh Tribune-Review (http://www.pittsburghlive.com/x/pittsburghtrib/sports/steelers/s_763979.html#ixzz1c0D9w45N). "You have to be physical with them and hit them and have to jam them. That's what you have to do."

The Steelers have held Welker relatively in check. In the past three meetings, Welker has averaged seven catches for 70 yards. He has scored one touchdown.

Pittsburgh coach Mike Tomlin indicated that Ike Taylor (http://espn.go.com/nfl/player/_/id/4583/ike-taylor), the team's best cornerback, will not shadow Welker. Taylor usually covers a receiver lined up to the outside, and Welker generally works out of the slot.

they have got to play physical at the line. that 10-15 yard cushion is what kills us every time no matter how many we have dropping into coverage

That's some real sportsmanship there, skippy. Seems to me Clark already tried it once, got a rule created because of it, and screwed every player in the league by his upending of a defenseless receiver. But whatever, if that's how you like the game, go for it.

Wes Welker? Really? That kid shows more heart and soul than any football player I've ever seen.

Clark didn't use his helmet on welker. It was all shoulder and clean.

I don't care if Welker catches the ball, just limit his YAC to 0 yards, make solid bone crunching tackles every time he catches the ball. I guarantee, the more catches he makes, the slower he will get.

Welker's sportmanship isn't the issue, I've never had a problem with him personally..other than the fact that he makes so many damn catches against us. lol

Any defense knows that you have to hit the little, quick, guys and rough them up so they start thinking twice about making a catch across the middle or atleast get in his head and perhaps it pays off later in the game.

Welker is one of those players you'd love if he was on your team, but hate playing against..

Yep :yellowthumb: he's a damn good WR, can always get open, whether it's across the middle, down the sidelines. He catches almost everything, he's the guy we need to take out of their game plan.

I guess you didn't read the part where he said I'm kidding, Skippy!
