The Steelers will hop on a plane this week to take on Pittsburgh West, the Arizona Cardinals. Check out what some of the fans of the Cards are saying about this upcoming games.

Just reading some of the initial articles, they seem pretty confident in their ability to beat the Steelers.

Here is one Steeler fans take on this game on how we can be beat...

Okay first off I am a Steelers (http://www.sbnation.com/nfl/teams/pittsburgh-steelers) fan but I live in AZ and I am sick of hearing the Cardinals (http://www.sbnation.com/nfl/teams/arizona-cardinals) are done and garbage and have no chance to win. All these "They suck posts" are really pissing me off. I have been watching the Cardinals football for a long while and at some times it was hard to call it football but some of these fans are ridiculous. "Fire Whisenhunt", "Kevin Kolb (http://www.sbnation.com/nfl/players/1342/kevin-kolb) sucks" , "Switch back to a 4-3" and "Start Trading Away Guys" is what I am hearing. I won't begin to dismantle these statements instead here is how the Cardinals can beat the Steelers.

On Offense:

It is no secret that Dick LeBeau's 3-4 system has kept the Steelers defense in the leagues best over the last couple of years. However this is not the same defense this year. Here would be my strategy for attacking the Steelers defense.
1. The TE is Kevin Kolb's best friend:
The first thing the Cardinals need to do is utilize 2 TE set frequently. Why? Well for one the TE needs to chip LaMarr Woodley (http://www.sbnation.com/nfl/players/16799/lamarr-woodley) and other blitzing Steelers to give Kevin Kolb time. We all know Levi Brown can't hold up by himself. The second reason is that the Steelers are currently slow at ILB and therefore are poor at covering the TE. In case Cardinals fans haven't noticed Rob Housler (http://www.sbnation.com/nfl/players/131107/rob-housler) is a weapon. Housler needs to be flexed and force either James Farrior (http://www.sbnation.com/nfl/players/1595/james-farrior) or William Gay (http://www.sbnation.com/nfl/players/16789/william-gay) to cover him match ups that favor the Cardinals. Todd Heap (http://www.sbnation.com/nfl/players/1400/todd-heap) and Jeff King (http://www.sbnation.com/nfl/players/2171/jeff-king) need to stay in get a good chip on the blitzers and then release to the flat as a check-down route. Doing this should not only give the Cardinals the match up but will help the poor play of the tackles.
2. Short, quick routes to Andre Roberts (http://www.sbnation.com/nfl/players/108648/andre-roberts) and Early Doucet (http://www.sbnation.com/nfl/players/34658/early-doucet):
The Steelers defense is notorious for giving up the small completions to stop the big play. Aside from Ike Taylor (http://www.sbnation.com/nfl/players/1637/ike-taylor) I like the Cardinals quickness matched against the Steelers DB. Kevin Kolb needs to utilize the Hot Route and get it out quick. The pass will be there and the Cards can move down the field if they can do this.
3. Zone Running with cut blocks:
The Texans (http://www.sbnation.com/nfl/teams/houston-texans), and the Raven this year have run good utilizing zone scheme while cut blocking the NT (Casey Hampton (http://www.sbnation.com/nfl/players/1599/casey-hampton) if healthy). Take advantage of the fact Jason Worilds (http://www.sbnation.com/nfl/players/108423/jason-worilds) may be over aggressive and the cut backs could be there. Beanie is no slouch when healthy. While running the Cards need to run to Worlids side because Worilds is not good against the run and Woodley is far better.
4. Understand where No. 43 and No. 22 are:
If Polamalu begins to play close to the line change the damn snap count cause he jumps it better than anyone in the league. William Gay No. 22 is the scape goat of the secondary but him match against Housler is a match up Housler should win every time. He will be played with at least a 5 yard cushion so call the hot route on the guy he covers.

1. Cardinals secondary is young but not without talent:
Petersen has roughly the same speed as Wallace but if he has to think he will be slowed. A.J. Jefferson (http://www.sbnation.com/nfl/players/108673/a-j-jefferson) is a guy I've like since pre-draft he has length in arms, jumping ability and good speed. This week stop the confusing zone scheme and play press man. Petersen straight up on Wallace, Jefferson on Brown or Ward. And don't put Adrian Wilson (http://www.sbnation.com/nfl/players/1784/adrian-wilson) in coverage against Heath Miller (http://www.sbnation.com/nfl/players/1620/heath-miller). On top of that Bruce Arians is cocky and calls deep routes like crazy (with no check-down) if the timing of his routes are thrown off then Ben will get hit.
2. Blitz the right side:
Jonathan Scott (http://www.sbnation.com/nfl/players/1501/jonathan-scott) the Steelers current right tackle is Levi Brown bad. I would be blitzing Adrian Wilson from the right at least 50 percent of the time because someone will get to Ben. (I also don't want to risk Wilson in coverage) Darnell Dockett (http://www.sbnation.com/nfl/players/1739/darnell-dockett) needs to get his head out of his *** cause he has a favorable match up this week. Stop whining about playing the 3-4 and earn the right to rush the dam passer.
3. Understand the delay blitz:
Daryl Washington (http://www.sbnation.com/nfl/players/109125/daryl-washington) is a quick ILB. The Steelers interior line has fluctuated all season and has proven to be slow to pick up stunts and delays. As soon as Washington see the a hole in the initial pass coverage he needs to hit it.
4. Tackle Ben when you Hit him:
Don't let Ben out of the pocket and wrap him up when you hit him or hell just break it. Ben has been fumble happy as well this season so if they can hit him the Cards have the odds in their favor for a turn over.
Don't underestimate the knowledge Whisenhunt and Horton have on the Steelers offense and defense. The Steelers haven't been the best on the road and the Cardinals are much better at home. Add in a bye week and this could be a dangerous game for the Steelers. Lastly go to the game and be loud, I couldn't go cause Bidwell decided to force fans to buy 3 different game tickets if they wanted to go to this game and I can afford that. (That's Bull) Looking forward to a good game on Sunday.

Sounds like this dude is pulling for the Cards to win, but hey whatever. It's all valid points and nothing earth shattering. The Steelers are hardly in a position to be taking anything for granted in this game or any other one. That being said, I still like our chances in this game as much as any.

All the Steelers castoffs down there in Arizona make this one to be their super bowl every year.

"Tackle Ben when you hit him." No, really?! That's generally the idea, yes.

I whole heatedly disagree that petersen is as fast as wallace and we can only hope they single cover him with a rookie . Petersen is good but not that good yet and he is giving housler too much credit 4 rec 41 yards one season .also we are doing better sniffing out the zone chop scheme. I'm not saying we will blow them out but WE SHOULD BE 5-2 after the card game . I also find it funny how he never mentions fitzgerald in the game plan if i had larry i think i would work him into the game plan btw fyi laMarr Woodley leads the who will get a sack first poll on their site lol

10-18-2011, 01:34 AM
NOT scared of this Cardinal team. Their fans will be pumped, but I'm seeing 5-2.

10-18-2011, 08:03 AM
 I like how they're calling for Whisenhunts head on a stick.

10-18-2011, 08:45 AM
I disagree as well, I honestly don't think there's a DB in the league that can run with Mike Wallace when he turns on the jets. If he gets a step on you right out of the gate, forget about it.

Sounds like that one guy... AZ_Steeler.

I knew that dude was going to jump ship sooner or later, I never trusted him!!!! :bluelol:

Here's one, apparently from a Steelers fan (http://www.revengeofthebirds.com/2011/10/17/2496697/how-the-cardinals-can-beat-the-steelers)

Thankfully with a healthy Worilds, maybe we can get a decent pass rush opposite of Woodley, and have some athleticism in the middle again with Timmons returning to ILB.

Since when does Worildds give us a decent pass rush? He's barely played this year and certainly not better than Timmons is right now even.

I don't think he'd been any worst then Timmons on the out side. I haven't seen Timmmons getting any pressure. Foote and Farrier have done a good job at stopping the run but, I think AZ is gone pass on us a lot, so Timmons in the middle with his speed might be a good idea.:2cents:

Timmons may not be on the stat sheet much since taking over on the right side, but I can see Tomlin's point about keeping him in there or atleast considering doing so. Worilds has done nothing year season yet to lead you to believe he is capable of beating any type of decent offense Tackle.

Fortunately the Cards offensive line is not the greatest so that could play in our favor.

See post number 8 in this thread

Whisenhunt is a top five coach. He'll have the team ready to go with an unparalleled game plan and fiery motivational speech that has the team come out pumped up and ready to play their hearts out.

Unfortunately their hopes are crushed when the team loses the coin toss and realizes that they didn't game plan for actually playing effective offense, defense, or special teams that makes the most of their talents.

Here are a few words for the Red Birds. Win or Lose, we own the NFL.

Cardinals preparing for the Steelers:

"We are doing some things that are a little bit unique and a little bit different that we are excited about. I think it can really help us on game day."

No one would say exactly what those changes are because they don't want to provide the Steelers, Sunday's opponent, with any information". COME ON, TELL US.

I fully expect the Cardinals to attack the Steelers by trying to spread out the defense. If they can do that, and more importantly actually make those plays, it's a huge boost for them.

If the Steelers don't expect this from them then they clearly will have not done their homework.

10-20-2011, 01:30 PM
Kolb isn't Warner...

Good luck dickbags, I can see our DB's getting some picks this week..

10-20-2011, 08:22 PM
How many Steelers fans going to show up for the game? (a question posed on a Cardinals forum board: http://forums.azcardinals.com/showthread.php?t=58373) from a couple of days ago. Another answer was "I hope not many". How can a Steelers fan even comprehend these fans attitude. Amazing IMO.

Best case scenario.. 50/50

Worst case.. up to 60% Steeler fans.

Expect to see our stands full of Terrible Towels.

Here's another from someone with a serious case of pp envy:

"While many of the steeler fans have moved here over the years, and many do travel from other areas to road games. The fact, is most steeler fans are front runners who have never even been to Pennsylvania, let alone are even able to find it on a map. Ask a cowboy fan what part of Texas they are from and you'll get a blank stare. Same with most of these dopes you'll see on Sunday". same forum. Me: "beggin your pardon". Actually, in the 21st century this may be close to truth. However, A fan is a fan regardless of his domicile current, past or future. BTW Pittsburgh, PA is located at Latitude:40.35N and Longitude:79.93W. I ain't tellin that ******* though. He can get his own fn map coordinates. Hopefully he gets lost in Blatimore. Ha Ha. What happened to football? A new name for this team: The Arizona Dust Busters. On the floor.

10-20-2011, 08:55 PM
Worilds has done nothing year season yet to lead you to believe he is capable of beating any type of decent offense Tackle.

In fairness, he's seen less than 20 plays total the entire season.

10-23-2011, 01:05 AM
Regular season, yes you are correct. However he played significantly in preseason and had troubles beating backups. Coach Butler called him out early in camp but it didn't seem to do much good. I honestly hope he is able to play soon and I hope he plays great, but man it hasn't been a good start for him.

10-23-2011, 01:06 AM
I can see it already... a stadium full of ignorant transplants and bandwagoners hootin and hollering. A Cardinal team that stops putting in effort in the second half after they lose the stadium... a running game that can't get anywhere against the Steelers D-line and a passing game still lacking in creativity.

I just don't know if I can do it.

People will now start dumping and selling their game tickets to opposing team fans. When the home team sucks and plays crappy football this is what happens here in Arizona. Forget the home field advantage.
