View Full Version : Mike Wallace: Finnegan is a dirty player

BlitzburghRockCity
10-08-2011, 10:42 AM
Receiver Mike Wallace said the Steelers will attack Tennessee's self-proclaimed bad boy, cornerback Cortland Finnegan.

"He doesn't intimidate one person around here," said Wallace, who had an 81-yard touchdown catch against the Texans last week. "If he wants to hit, we're going to hit. If he wants to be aggressive, we're going to be aggressive."

Wallace, who was flagged for taunting last week, added that aggressiveness won't be tempered by stupidity.

"We're not going to go out and be stupid and get penalties," Wallace said. "But by no means are we going to take anything from anybody. Finnegan is a dirty player. If he wants to get dirty, we can be dirty, too."

Wallace added there is a potential for big plays against the Titans' secondary, considering the Cleveland Browns had success through the air in a 31-13 loss.

It's no secret that Finnegan will take a cheap shot or extra jab at you anytime he can. Plus he's got a hot temper and a short fuse. Wallace needs to be careful this week; don't get into any fights or trash talking matches with him, we can't afford any dumb penalties.

Deviouz1
10-08-2011, 11:15 AM
no, we cant afford dumb penalties. but can we afford to let him bully the WR corps? i say that we've got 4 good receivers. theyve got 1 good CB and Chris Hope. didnt we release him a few years back? i think we may be able to sacrifice and exchange. if finnegan has a short fuse and a bad temper than it seems to me that he would be easily manipulated into getting dumb penalties of his own. the right talk at the right moment and who knows? maybe we can get him ejected.

i say troll him and see what happens.

Hope is out tomorrow. And yes we had him up until the year after XL, he was replaced by Clark...I'm not sure if that was really an upgrade, I always liked Hope, but it all worked out.

Oh yeah and I hate Finnegan; loved seeing him get his *** whooped by Johnson last year. Finnegan isn't tough, he's dirty, and there's a big difference between the two.

I HATE Finnegan. I absolutely loved seeing andre johnson beat his *** last year. Finnegan is a punk *** scumbag. The guy doesn't even deny he's a dirty player. He says he strives to not only be a dirty players but he wants to be known as the dirtiest player in the game. I'd love to see his leg get snapped like theisman's. Can't say he doesn't deserve it........

One good? CB will not counter Wallace's speed.
As long as ABrown , ESanders, or Hines get going, Finnigan is not going to be very relevant. He will be too busy looking at 17's jersey from behind....
Ben will need protection to find another open WR other than Wallace. AB has been doing pretty good for the last few games, getting 4 cathces a game so far...
O nce the OL gets stabilized, Hines will get going also....

all the better. im actually feeling a little more confident now. they do have some speedy young CB's though, not really sure how theyll match up with brown and sanders but it should be interesting to see how things unfold.

I don't think there's a player in the NFL that doesn't think Finnegan is a dirty player.

You guys aren't even keeping up with what our players are doing, are you?

Finnegan was moved to nickel by Munchak at the beginning of the season. The move has been a big improvement and Courtland has been playing one of his best seasons in years. If I were you guys, I'd be less concerned about Mike Wallace and be more concerned about the blitz packages Finny will be dialing up on gimpy ol' Big Ben.

I have absolutely no use for Finnegan, but Wallace just let Finnegan know he is in his head. There is no way Finnegan is going to let him go now. He will be jawing and taking extra shots at Mike just to get more into his head and blow his concentration.

Bad move Wallace :evilshake:

first of all ben isnt matt schaub. he isnt a pussy and he doesnt go down easy, he towers over "finny" by 7 inches and outweighs him by 50+ pounds. so even if "finny" gets to him he's gonna have a hard time getting him on the ground. i would LOVE to see ben lower his head and hammer that twiggy twat. 10lbs of awesome in a bag made of kickass.

Why would we...? You know this is a Steelers fan site right? Why would we bother keeping up with the Titans and there insignificant roster moves?

Haha, bring it. Dirty little Finny is nothing compared to Ngata, Suggs, and others that Ben goes against two or three times a year. So...if I were you I'd be worried about your old *** QB. Lets hope you get overpaid and overrated C2J back on track today because if not, Hasselbroke is gonna get to know Mr. Timmons awfully well...

It matters if you worry about Big Ben being on his butt a few times tomorrow.

True, Ngata and Suggs are potent threats. Honestly considering how your O-line is not protecting Big Ben these days, Finny may indeed be the least of your worries. :)

And as for "old *** QB", that guy is having his best start in his career, mainly because our O-line keeps him upright. We're having a lot of fun here in Nashville these days with a QB who actually makes good decisions and can sling the rock for 300+ yards without breathing hard (good luck Philly!). Hasselbeck lost our best wide-out in recent memory (Kenny Britt) and nobody panicked. Even if CJ runs for less than 100 yards, I like our chances. If he breaks for 125+, you guys are toast.

I appreciate your candor. :)

We Titans fans are just having fun considering most of us thought this season was going to be closer to 4-12...maybe 8-8 in fantasyland. (New head coach, two new QBs, etc.) Nobody is saying we have an AFC Championship game in our future. But with Indy down, the AFC South is anyone's game. We still have to prove ourselves against you guys and the Texans but dismantling the Ravens showed we can be a team to be reckoned with. The big issue is playing consistently and getting our run game back online. Last week was promising but not there yet. Normally we wouldn't be thinking we'd have a chance against the vaunted Steeler run defense but considering your last few games....again, I like our chances.

I hate to say it but I really like your chances Titans guy.

Hampton, Harrison, and Smith out, Keisel coming back from injury. Our Dline may look as bad as our Oline this week. We need step up performances from Hoke and Ziggy. Like I said I like the Titans chances.

You have a 36 year old, washed up QB coming off of three straight horrible seasons. I'm just calling it like I see it. It's week 5, lets not get ahead of ourselves, there's a LOT of football left.

And as far as your o-line keeping him upright, well...that's the key to the game tomorrow ain't it. Good luck. :reddevil:

I'm sure Ben hopes so. Problem is, nobody else believes it...certainly not the major sports writers. I listened to two different interviews this week on Nashville sports talk radio from Pittsburgh sports personalities. One was a host of a popular sports call-in show (I forget which) and the second was the Pittsburgh play-by-play announcer. Both guys brought up the O-line as a major concern.

As for "King of the Five Yard Pass", that guy is had passed for 1152 yards in four games, 8 TDs, 3 INTs and completing 66.7% of his throws. (Passer rating of 104.7) Not bad for a 36 year old has been.

:hilarious: Yeah, we took care of business against that guy. Most fans around here were pretty surprised how we dismantled those guys. I suppose we could have been their "trap" game but c'mon, this is the Ravens we're talking about. It makes us look back at the Jacksonville game on week 1 with head-slapping incredulity.

OK, to balance things out a bit, here's what we Titans fans are worried about.

1. CJ. Yeah, the 101 yard effort last week was nice but it wasn't an even effort and there were few opponent killing moments about it. CJ is one of those backs that if he hits the hole with speed and makes you miss, you might as well give up. But if you lay a paw on him in the backfield, he pretty much falls down. This has been the story this season and much of the end of last season. CJ's pass reception game has really faltered badly but is starting to show signs of life.

2. The O-line. No, not about protecting Hasselbeck. Part of the CJ problem is creating running lanes for CJ. The O-line has been less than stellar in making that happen like the old days.

3. The receivers. With Kenny Britt out for the season, nobody we have scares anybody. Nate Washington is now our #1 (hey, no laughing out there!) but he's done ok for the first 4 games (23 reps for 320 yards but only 1 TD). The best compliment I can give Nate is that when Britt went down, he stepped up and caught just about everything thrown his way (he was a bit butterfingers in the Vince Young era). The best thing about having Nate Washington as the #1 for this game is that Heinz Field is very familiar territory.

4. The tight ends. We've been getting a lot more out of the tight ends , especially with Britt gone. Craig Stevens has especially stepped up. But he got a rib injury last week and may not go...important since he's one of the league's better blocking tight ends and we need all the help we can get clearing a path for CJ.

5. Special teams. For some reason we are letting teams have a little too many yards on kickoffs of late...and we've been barely getting out of the gate on that play.

6. The fullback. The good news is that we got our fullback off suspension this week (Ahmad Hall). The bad news is that he hasn't played a down of football this season and has to block for the aforementioned CJ.

7. The Steelers X-factor. Playing the Steelers at Heinz is never an easy task. But the Steelers are a team that knows how to win and is resourceful enough to do it in lots of different ways. Last year we thought we were home free playing Pittsburgh with Big Ben on suspension and after we knocked out your #2 guy. Then Charlie Batch came in and we made him look like an All-Pro. If we ever got down to our #3 QB, it would be pretty ugly.

It should be a good contest, regardless.

You probably heard Bill Hillgrove , he does the play by play for the Steelers Radio Network. Those guys are well respected among the Steeler Nation, they know their stuff.

Anybody with half a brain, hell even the most novice football fan knows the Steelers offensive line is a question mark. Based on the player interviews this week and all the comments coming out of the practice facility, they are pretty pissed off at how badly they've played. If they are going to get it going this year it better start now. We can't afford to fall 2 games back of the division leader.

Matt H. is a fine QB; he did well up in Seattle all those years with virtually nobody to throw too.

if you base who's going to win off of what an (ANAL)yst says i'll bet you every sunday lol. Bottomline is we're not playing at our best and we're still 2-2 unlike a whole lot of teams in the league. Which means our worst is far better than the Titans best. So you better go ahead and get your jokes in before we gel because then you'll want to bandwagon like the rest. I can't remember one year that we won the superbowl and was pick by the analyst to win it. We'll see you on sunday.

The game's winding down and those who talk smack should also eat some claim chowder. The Steelers O-line showed up ready to play, regardless of what ailed them. You pushed our guys around all day, creating huge running lanes. That opened up the passing routes and Big Ben had us for lunch throwing 5 big ones.

But the biggest thing you guys did right was the attitude of the whole team. That kind of attitude is infectious and pervade the entire team throughout the game. Well played Steelers and good luck on the rest of the year.
