According to Dale Lolly:

Roethlisberger says it appears to be a serious knee injury for B. Batch

The way the players were talking to him and patting him on the back... Man I'm keeping my fingers crossed but his body language says it could be serious.

The way some of the Steelers are reacting on twitter is that this is a pretty serious injury. Looks more MeMo on 3rd down this year kids.

Clay has been unspectacular and Dwyer is a joke. If Baron is down for the year don't be surprised if the team looks for another veteran soon.

Keep an eye on the Clinton Portis watch if Batch's injury ends his season. Parker is with the UFL or CFL or somebody's FL I believe.

It's a torn ACL http://baronbatch.blogspot.com/

Friday I was supposed to play my first NFL game. That won’t happen. Today I tore my ACL. I’m not sure why I’m writing about this right now except for the fact that God put it on my heart to do so. I probably should be devastated at the fact I wont play my rookie season but… I’m not. After my season ending injury my freshman year of college I promised myself that I would never ask God “why?” again and I’m not about to start now. It’s during the tough times that we are able to grow. I’m excited to hit another growth spurt.

I understand what you're saying. I think his personality has a lot to do with the disappointment many have. You always pull for the good guys.

A real bright spot in camp and he gets an ACL injury. I really feel for the guy. Hopefully, the team keeps him around on the reserve/injured list and he can have a year to learn the offense some more and continue to mature physically. You never know.

They most likely will. Seeing they can IR him, he is not going to take a roster spot, and he is being payed a rookie minimum so there is no real reason to cut him. Even more so because coaches were impressed by him. If for nothing else, his effort has made sure that he'll get another chance next year, although that is hardly what he wants to hear right now.

I'm quite certain none of us were expecting Batch to turn into Walter Payton, but he was showing so much in camp that I feel many of us were giddy thinking about having a true change of pace guy on 3rd downs. Doesn't hurt that he is a quality human being either.

You just hate to see a kid who's working so hard to make the team go down like this. Especially being a 7th round pick you are already against the wall just trying to make the roster let alone see the field in the regular season.

He'll be back, he's got too good of an attitude and work ethic not too.
