Injuries are mounting in Latrobe today: Jim Wexell said that Limas Sweed has a separated shoulder, wrapped in ice. Jonathan Scott was carted off with an ankle injury. Tomlin said he doesn't believe they are serious injuries.

Also Curtis Brown and Cortez Allen are out with hamstrings. Crezdon Butler did not practice.

Adam Mims left with a hamstring injury.

Arnaz Battle, back spasms

Update on Sweed, sprained shoulder, not separated.

Also Ramon Foster left with an apparent but not confirmed ankle injury, believed also to not be serious at this point.

Separated shoulder doesn't sound too good.

Yeah his day is over, it's wrapped in ice. Could not be fully separated but we don't know for sure just yet. Either way the dude is missing more time; not good for his "comeback" bid to be the "tall WR that Pittsburgh needs".

Not sure what to say, maybe he's just not built for the NFL.

I really want to see Sweed make it this year, but it looks like everything that could go wrong for him does. Granted, a separated shoulder isn't a huge injury, but it is always something. Hopefully it is just a matter of him shaking off the rust.

Update on injuries

Tomlin on injuries: “Kind of a laundry list of training camp-like injuries and I’ll go down some of them. Of course, Maurkice Pounceyhttp://www.steelers.com/assets/nflimg/icon-article-link.gif (http://www.steelers.com/team/roster/maurkice-pouncey/9d33439a-ec2b-4a65-a2a2-0b63719b0604/) has a minor ankle sprain. Hopefully we’ll have him back here the first of next week or at some point. The normal guys that you know about have been down. Some new ones: Arnaz Battlehttp://www.steelers.com/assets/nflimg/icon-article-link.gif (http://www.steelers.com/team/roster/arnaz-battle/90e627d9-262e-4c1b-9c1d-18ac20e7f91e/) has some back spasms, Limas Sweedhttp://www.steelers.com/assets/nflimg/icon-article-link.gif (http://www.steelers.com/team/roster/limas-sweed/d71c5cd9-9d70-4d64-8a95-6a3b61da28e8/) has a sprained shoulder, Jonathan Scotthttp://www.steelers.com/assets/nflimg/icon-article-link.gif (http://www.steelers.com/team/roster/jonathan-scott/0d242b24-ef4d-49d3-90d1-dfe6c1f6c863/) has an ankle, Adam Mimshttp://www.steelers.com/assets/nflimg/icon-article-link.gif (http://www.steelers.com/team/roster/adam-mims/b1c3d227-4046-410c-b4a3-e26eac256f03/) had a tight hamstring and Donovan Warrenhttp://www.steelers.com/assets/nflimg/icon-article-link.gif (http://www.steelers.com/team/roster/donovan-warren/896989e4-5f6c-4357-bfc0-ad7d3a8e8105/) had a hip flexor. Training camp-type things and these guys need to take advantage of their down time and stay ahead of the curve when given the opportunity. We’ll continue to press forward with the guys that are healthy and ready to work. I always have that mentality and those guys are taking advantage of reps and getting some conditioning at the same time.”

Tomlin also added that Ramon Fosterhttp://www.steelers.com/assets/nflimg/icon-article-link.gif (http://www.steelers.com/team/roster/ramon-foster/200381ee-4d12-425e-b3bd-4f4bca965e35/), who left practice early, had a training camp injury he said is minor, as is the injury to Scott.

I swear to god, Limas Sweed could fart and he would produce season ending hemorrhoids, that would require surgery or complete butt amputation.

That's an interesting statement. What do these guys do that can't get on the field while everyone is practicing? Are they on the field watching, studying inside or rehabbing?

Sweed couldn't catch the clap.

The emphasis on easier NFL training camps under the new labor agreement has not resulted in fewer injuries for the Steelers, at least not the minor ones that keep players out for a day or three.

Several more Steelers headed for the sideline at practice Saturday, joining what coach Mike Tomlin called a "laundry list" of minor injuries.

At one point, two-fifths of his starting offensive line were taken off the field on the same cart to an overworked trainers' room. Left tackle Jonathan Scott went down with a sprained left ankle, and right guard Ramon Foster left with an injury Tomlin declined to specify other than to call both of them minor. Starting left guard Chris Kemoeatu is on the physically-unable-to-perform list with a knee injury and has yet to practice, and center Maurkice Pouncey missed the Saturday session with an ankle injury sustained Friday night in practice.

"We're hopeful to have him back here the first of next week," Tomlin said of Pouncey.
Only right tackle Willie Colon, who practiced for the first time Thursday, was left standing among the starting linemen at the end of the Saturday practice.
"Training camp type things, man," Tomlin said. "These guys have to take advantage of their down time and stay ahead of the curve when given the opportunity."
Wide receiver Limas Sweed, who has endured all kinds of problems since the Steelers drafted him in the second round in 2008, has another. He sustained a sprained shoulder in practice Saturday. He missed a few practices last week with a hamstring injury. Sweed is trying to make the team after missing all last season with a torn achilles tendon.

Training camp (http://www.post-gazette.com/pg/11219/1165846-498.stm)

Receiver Arnaz Battle has back spasms, linebacker James Harrison was given the day off, and several cornerbacks were out again with lingering minor injuries, including rookies Cortez Allen and Curtis Brown, starter Bryant McFadden and second-year defensive back Crezdon Butler. Offensive tackle Marcus Gilbert remains out with a hamstring injury.

A bit of good news on the injury front: Hines Ward, who opened camp on the physically-unable-to-perform list after surgery on his thumb, plans to come off it Monday and practice.
