We're going to beat the Colts. Manning does not play well against us.

I see us losing to Baltimore once, Indy, New England and a sleeper game could be Houston.

is this assuming we play a full 16 game schedule?

i'll say we go 5-1 in division
4-0 vs. nfc west
3-1 vs. afc south
1-1 vs. rest of afc

13-3

I don't think the Pats game is going to be that close, no matter who wins. If the Pats beat us it will probably be by atleast 10 points. Their tight end and short passing game is always a pain to deal with.

14-2, that's a pretty tall order. I'd be happy with 12-4 and winning the division.

I can see 4-2 in the division. The team won't sweep the Ravens, and I wouldn't be surprised to see the team fall to the Bengals or Browns in a trap game at the end of the season.

Outside of the division, I see the Pats and Colts as the two biggest threats. Mark those down as two losses to be conservative. On top of that, I see either Kansas City or Houston pulling off a win. So that would bring my hypothesis to 7-3.

Total, I figure on an 11-5 season.

When was the last time the Steelers won 14 games in the regular season? Without looking it up my best guess would be it's never happened. The season is a grind and outcomes completely related to injuries, karma and the like. Granted they play a crappy division, but will travel a lot, and will have short weeks because of nationally televised games. Ben is in his prime, and will do well...but 14 wins is pretty lofty.:imho:

12-4 is more realistic.

My thinking is Ben's foot is completely healed, Troy is completely healed, Aaron Smith is healthy ,we get Colon and Starks back Ziggy is more mature as is Wallace,Sanders,Brown.Everything points to an above average Offense. So as long as we don't let the secondary become an issue we should have a great season.Plus the addition of youth on defense we could be better on defense this year= 14-2

i would be ok with 1-15 if we finally beat the pats. and the last time we played the colts we lost at home. but we did win the sb. 13-3, rematch in the sb against the packers. i had a dream....

Beating the pats for once would be nice but I don't know if that would make me be ok with a 1-15 record lol. We aren't the bungles, 1-15 is never acceptable I don't care who we beat in the one game

I think we split with the Ravens, lose to the Pats (during the regular season but beat them in the playoffs) and lose to the Chiefs in a very tough game. 13-3. I'll take 12-4 as long as the 4th loss doesn't come against the Bungals.

Happy 4th everyone! I really do not put much stock into schedules to start the year. When we have a tough schedule, we do well ( SB XLIII season - we had the toughest), other years with a perceived easier schedule - we do not perform as well.

I like to wait to October, then analyze the schedule - sort out the pretenders and contenders.

All that said, I would say 12-4 is being very hopeful, probably 11-5 is more like it. Get that first one against the Ravens and i will feel alot better about the situation.:cope::cope:

Man, I don't care what there record is as long as they keep those nail biter games to a minimum and they make it to the playoffs. I would like for once to see them destroy a team, like 36-3. That seems to never happen. Every game is just waaaayyyyy to close!

Its always fun to analyze the schedule before the season starts. No matter what, there are always teams that do better then everyone thinks and those teams that do worse then everyone thinks. That being said I still see our divison being a two team race, the NFC West is still a terrible divsion, I think we are as good as or better then most of the teams in the AFC South, and who knows, maybe it is finally our time to beat Manning and Brady. I think baring any major injuries we win 11 to 13 games.

so optimistic...not saying theres not reason to be but come on, we know they blow some close games and lose some that they should probably win. Late season heroics and dangerous playoff team is more realistic than utter regular season dominance

I know it's optimistic but if everyone does there job it's possible

I'm going with another 12-4 season. indy or pats, we win one of those games.

I could care a less if they go 10-6 and make the PO's any team that makes it has a chance to win it all.

I remember after we won the Superbowl, talks of 16-0 came into play after an initial look at our 09 schedule. pretty sure we wound up 9-7 with the Browns kicking us out of playoff contention.

14-2 is bullshit, I'll go with 11-5. We are legit Superbowl contenders again, but this team will drop a couple surprise games, maybe that Houston game and even one or two within the division. Pats and Colts aren't lay downs either.

Five losses won't make the playoffs so go ahead cheer for five losses yea 5 losses

I think its funny how again, everyone is on the Ravens bandwagon. Reading the football mags. everyone is picking the Ravens. When it has been proven time and time again, they can't beat us in the big game. Unless ben goes down (knock on wood), flacco can not beat him. Why is it nobody ever wants us to win?

--- Added 7/9/2011 at 10:26 AM ---

I won't go as far as saying 14-2. But this team certainly has something to prove after losing in the sb. I just hope its not another letdown. We play the NFC West, the weakest division in football. But I have high expectations, and should. Who knows which teams will be a surprise. But this saying, if there is a season of course. If this team finishes anything less than the playoffs, it'll be a dissapointment.

I agree with your thinking on offense but we can't just let Ike walk and realistically think our secondary is going to be better right?

This team is set to return to the super bowl IF....they upgrade the secondary. If not, then we are all just wasting our time this season in thinking it's going to be special.

At this point in the offseason we better hope that all the players are healed up. If they aren't then something was done drastically wrong all these months since the 2010 season was over.

Everybody starts out at square one, everyone has ambitions of the post season and the super bowl. The teams that get off to the good start, stay healthy, and most importantly can maintain the consistent winning will be there in the end. Pittsburgh is a veteran team capable of just about anything. I still wouldn't go out on a limb and call ahead for a 14-2 season just yet. However a winning season and a division championship set us up well for a post season run, and that is a very real possibility.
