Funny I was just thinking about this last night actually and was going to make a thread about it later today..LOL. So many things could and will change but it's interesting to think about who we feel will be there for next season as it stands now.

I'll comment on your post Jpele; I agree for the most part with your selections as the roster is right now.

QB: Dennis Dixon leaves and Batch stays. I think someone will trade for Dixon or we'll just let him go. Batch will stay around for another year and they'll try to ink Leftwich to a longer term backup deal.

RB: I would think that Batch has a chance to make the roster over Dwyer. Mainly because the Steelers have a power running in Isaac Redman so having a scat back type like Batch could be intriguing.

FB: Johnson has been playing this role for awhile so I don't expect that to change this year.

WR: The Steelers could keep 6 this year in which case both Arnaz Battle and Sweed will make the roster. Battle because of his special teams play and Sweed because they'll want to give him 1 more chance. If they don't keep battle look for them to possibly keep Wes Lyons, whom they signed earlier this offseason. 6'8" 245 lb. monster from WVU.

TE: Pretty much par for the course here too.

OL: Agree with these as well. I think Tony Hills and Trai Essex's time is up.

DL: No brainer here, this will be the group for 2011.

LB: This group will be formidable again. I like the depth we have now here, finally!

DB: Ike Taylor, Curtis Brown, William Gay, Cortez Allen, Crezdon Butler. It's a toss up between Gay and McFadden, I could see either one coming back but not both. Lewis and Madison are gone.

Safety: This will probably be the group with Mundy being the main backup.

Kickers & Punters: It's a toss up right now but I don't think Suisham comes back now. He'll get a shot and for a time I was all for him being here next year too. However those misses in the playoffs and reading up on him from the Redskin boards and how he's been a choke artist in big games makes me think they'll go elsewhere.

Kapinos did fine but they'll have an open tryout for both kicking positions so it's impossible to say at this point.

lyons is terrible lol

i think moore gets cut and dwyer and batch both make the team....i really like dwyer, his upside is much higher than batch or redmans

He's raw but I don't know if he's terrible just yet, LOL. He's such a huge target I'd love to see him get a chance and run with it.

You really think they are going to cut ties with Moore? I guess I could see it happening but Dwyer and Baron Batch would have to have great camps to unseat him.

the way i look at it is that moore is solid, but unspectacular...and really so is redman

but redman and dwyer both have potential to be good role players on this team, but also targets of other teams similar to chester taylor when he was a backup on the ravens and michael turner when he was the other guy in SD. moore is pass that point, no one really will want him bad enough to trade for him, mendenhall has taken over for him as the best blocking and receiving back on the team, and hes just not really worht keeping anymore.

i dont think they would have drafted batch without at least considering cutting moore.

Liking this receiving crew big time. Wallace should be the go-to-guy this season, but he'll probably split time with Ward through the beginning. Brown & Sanders will be solid, those are 2 well experienced players for just their second year. Can't wait to see Brown more involved and continue returning for us. I think he's gonna do great. I'd like to see Sweed make the team too. This is his last chance and I don't know where you could find a better 5th option then him, just as long as he stays focused he'll be alright

If Tomlin is willing to trust his running game to the experienced Mendenhall, the relatively experienced Redman, and then a couple more unknowns then Moore could go. I just think he'd rather have the security blanket in Moore for atleast another year if they can swing it. You're right Moore won't garner much off season activity mainly because of his age but teams looking for an experienced backup could be interested.

Drafting Batch could be a sign that they are considering not bringing back Moore, or it could just be insurance in case they try too but can't bring him back. I don't think that would be the case necessarily but...

The problem is that if Dwyer makes the team he'll get about as many carries as he did last year (9 rushes). If Batch makes the team and Moore does not I could see Batch getting more action in the 3rd down role depending on how quickly he catches on and how good he is in blitz pickup.

i think dwyer could potentially steal playing time from redman, it just depend on the shape hes in when he gets to camp really...which is a concern, but if hes in good shape the guy is too talented to not compete for some time, at least at FB

:plus1: totally agree with this post. I like Redman alot, but he is an "over-achiever". Dwyer will be as good as he wants to be. If he comes into camp and battles he has the talent to to GREAT things. He's Redman with more speed, better vision and wiggle.

RBs: Mende/Redman/Dwyer/ Batch or FA. Mewelde has become less important with each season. Mende, Redman and Dwyer all offer more than MeMo making him expendable. Batch is a gamble at this point but there may be a TON of FA's looking for new homes after the CBA is settled. With FA's like D'angelo Williams, Ronnie Brown, Ahmad Bradshaw etc., guys like, say: Darren Sproles or Reggie Bush realize their roles as utility backs/returners and may be available and want to play for a legit contender(highly unlikely they land here though).

WRs: I think they go 5 with Ward/Wallace/Brown/Sanders/Sweed after some lengthy competition. Miller in most situations is the 5th wr so only keeping 5 actual wrs makes sense. Dropping El and Battle will make room at CB to sign some luxury ST'er cause Madison is a ST's beast and Allen has raw talent and is a ST's starter day 1.

DBs: Taylor/McFadden/Brown/Gay/Allen/Madison and Butler or Lewis. I give the edge to Butler based on nothing but my personal feeling. Even after Lewis' terrible showing in preseason last year he still made alot of game rosters. Crez made 1. Brown will push for NB and maybe a starting role if B-mac cant stay healthy/productive. Gay is better than alot of people give him credit for and at worst is our 4th best corner right now. Allen has 6 years of football exp. in his life and is extremely raw. But he has size, speed and is a nice project CB who may be a ST's beast ala Steve-Sly.

i thought dwyer would have beat out redman last year i think hes very talented but maybe a tad lazy iv'e been around a ton of talented players in my days and at least half of the super talented are really lazy because people would bow to them through out their lives and they never had to work for it then when they get to the pro's things don't go according to their plan cause they have to put in the work i hope dwyer makes the team he's an exciting back that we could use

i think will allen and madison are gone replaced by C. Allen and C. Butler
