View Full Version : Want vs. Need

Who is one guy that if he was drafted by the Steelers even though his position is not one of need you'd be happy we picked? Realisticaly of course since we are picking 31st.

For me, it would be Andy Dalton. He's a winner. Good TD-INT ratio. Ran a sophisticated offense for 3-4 years at TCU and with the pounding BR takes, a reliable 2nd QB would be nice. I like DD, but I'm just not sure he's the long-term back-up answer.

never ever ever ever would i take dalton in the first...that is madness

since most of my wants are huge needs this is tough. i want a CB, DE, NT, RG the most and they are the biggest needs.

If julio jones didnt run an incredible time with a broken foot hed be my choice...sadly he worked himself back up as a top 10 guy.

i would say a guy like kyle rudolph would be a good pick even though its not the biggest need

ryan williams was way overhyped before the year...no way hes a first rounder.

greg little ftw

williams had a bad year that was impacted by nagging minor injuries and what was reportedly an inflated ego .. he is still easily worth a mid second round pick imo and could end up to be the best RB in this class ..

this is a tough question like you said because many of the guys i want are needs ..

to answer this question its easier to use later round picks as examples....we dont need noel devine but id ****ing love it.

we might not need greg little, but it would be an amazing asset to pick him up, or kendricks the TE we have shown alot of interest...could be a dynamic playmaker. these guys arent crucial but could be great luxuries

Ya, I didn't word that quite the way I wanted to.... What I meant was in the rounds 2-5. Taking anything other than NEED in the first would be ludicrous.

not really. you really need to take BPA regardless of round but i think its most important in the first

greg little would not only dominate with all these WR screens BA likes to run, he would be the 2nd best RB on our team .. MARK IT UP ..

hes got some great body control, hes got some of the best hands in the draft, hes just raw as **** and im not exactly sure what his karakter konsernz are but not playing this year really hurt him cause hes got 1st round talent.

This is the best I could do because I want us to address needs and most of my opinion is based on what I have read about the prospects. I don't want us to reach and I hope we fill needs in every round (doesn't everybody)?

What about a RB with pass catching ability mid-rounds or big target WR late? Of course, everything depends on who is left on the board.

If we got into mid rounds and a pass catching or change of pace back RB was available (perhaps Quizz Rogers or Demarco Murray). I can't think of anyone esle who would fit the bill this year.

It sounds like Little has been telling some fibs during his interviews and he may drop further than some think. What Austin Pettis late?

RB (part 2)
K, I know you like Noel Devine and I left his name off purposely up above. I figured you would probably be wondering how many times you have to mention his name for people figure out how much you like this guy. I thought about saying that we should reach for one of those two RBs in the second round, but I figured that would just send you around the bend.

shane vereen is a real interesting guy in the passing game ..

the WR we need to take in the late rounds is Kamar Aiken from UCF .. i will go on record and say he is the most underrated WR in the draft...
