Jason LaCanfora's tweet

Steelers DBs coach Ray Horton has left to take a position with the Cowboys.

Now, maybe we can get a better DB's coach

Sorry I was so excited I missed the second "a" in Dallas

Nothing in stone yet, the Steelers should not let both Horton and Butler go. Regardless of if Lebeau comes back, you want to have 2 guys who know the system that would be able to take over when Dick finally retires.

Its time for Butler to take over as DC. LeBeau to become a Consultant/front office. We need a fresher perspective to the 34d everyone knows what LeBeau is going to do. Its Time.
I'm not sure what were going to do for OC resign BA or Promote RAndy Fetchner.

good post, Jolly. Butler would make a hell of a DC.

Horton has an offer on the table with Dallas, and also with Arizona to be their DC. I just heard that as well about Butler, and I'm glad. He needs to stay put in Pittsburgh, he's the heir apparent to DL for a reason.

Perhaps Butler needs a promotion "in title" of some sort. Johnny Mitchell is already asst head coach. . .Let Horton go. I believe DL hangs around for at least one more year and then passes the chalk to the Butler.

I think it's a fair assumption that Lebeau and Butler have talked this year, and probably recently as well about their futures on the Steelers. The Steelers will never run Lebeau out of town and Butler knows he's the replacement. I would imagine Tomlin has spoken to him too letting him know that he is there guy in the future.

Funny, 2 coaches running the same defense is like exchanging a recipe. It's largely the same, but you always put your own little wrinke in there to make it "yours". I could see a fresh perspective on defense from the Butler, but by no means am I ready to see DL leave.

All I ask is when we play a west coast offense team in the future, can we please not have our safeties 20 yards off the LOS? That killed us. Once the Receivers got past the LB's there was at least 10-12 yards of open space before the safeties even became relevant. Watch the film. I don't get it.

From facebook:

The Pittsburgh Steelers
Arizona is denied permission to interview LB coach Keith Butler. Arizona, Dallas both get permission to interview DB coach Ray Horton.

Pele, thanks for bringing back the greatest avatar in the history of the internet!

I really hope Butler stays, if he does go we need to make it a package deal. You MUST take BA and Gay also.

I know Whiz really wanted Butler, so now he's settling for second best...HAHA I love it! He's been trying to get permission to talk to Butler for 3 years now! The Steelers know he is the next big thing so they are going to keep him around.

Ive always said Deshea would make a nice coach.

Whiz needs to give it up and quit turning Arizona into Pittsburgh West. It won't work. He is another one that needs to be thrown under the bus.

I am so happy. We switched Oline coaches last year and saw improvement this year, our secondary could use a change I think. Maybe the new guy will help us improve in pass coverage.

If i'm understanding this correctly, DeShea Townsend will be the defensive backs coach for the Cardinals and not the Steelers, right?

Correct, Townsend would join Horton in Arizona.

The Arizona Cardinals have hired Steelers secondary coach Ray Horton to be their defensive coordinator, the Post-Gazette has learned.
