View Full Version : Sorry, I still don't trust Arians

Ok, so the past 2 games we beat a hapless Carolina Panther team, then went to the proverbial soiled diaper of America and basically beat up the paper boy and took his lunch money.

Was the Cleveland win fun to watch? .... you bet. :helmet:

Am I thrilled the Steelers did the job and locked up the #2 spot to take the division and 1st round bye? ....... damn straight! :helmet:

Am I hopeful we win the next 2 and find ourselves walking into Dallas' new stadium for our 7th ring? .... Oh, hell to the yeah! :helmet:

Do I trust our situational play calling going forward in what will most definately be a much higher caliber of opponent? ..... NOT A CHANCE!

I've said it many times before and I'll say it again, Bruce Arians is our weakest link on offense. All too often we win in spite of him and NOT becasue of him. Either the defense bails him out or Ben extends a play and pulls a major pass out of his *** that wasn't designed or intended. :tt02:

Yes, I'll remain hopeful, but something tells me we'll be back here in a few weeks talking about how Arians screwed the pooch ..... once again. :yesnod:

All we can do is hope that somehow this "good" play calling continues now when we need it more than ever. Either that or we're going to need the players to rise above the craptastic calls and make something out of nothing. Lebeau has evolved his secondary into a more formidable unit of the course of this season, right now we have to hope that somehow Arians continues to evolve...

None of us trust Arians. But what can we do about it now? Nothing.

While I will certainly give him props for the offensive gameplan the last couple of weeks, that doesn't mean I suddenly find myself liking the guy. I am hopeful he stays aggressive and is mindful that playoff teams will make adjustments to try and take away some of those slants and in routes.

I would not grade him highly for the Panthers game. It was full of mistakes...
Better than his average game but still not up to the Steelers Nation standard if you ask me.

on another site, i read some conspiracy of randy fichtner doing more of the play calling or having more of an input on the game plan.

what feeds into this 'conspiracy' is the fact that the offense didn't look like a bruce arians type offense at all...quick slants, lots of play action, wr screens to speedy receivers, passing out of run formations, getting heath miller involved more, etc...

there may be some validity to it! hopefully fichtner will be more directly involved if it is so...

You got a link? If theres any truth to that, I love hearing that conspiracy.

I honestly wouldn't doubt it, it is awfully coincidental that the offense really opened itself up last Sunday night. We haven't seen that many slants in a game since Holmes was here. Either that or Arians has been holding back all year long and now decides to show his hand...

Whatever the case may be, the offense was less predictable and that is what produced TD's. Let's hope it continues. Of course, flexibility in the play calling is predicated on the O-Line's ability to control the LOS.

fact:

the steelers have dismantled the browns before.

fact:

the panthers and the browns suck

fact:

arians still sucks despite his occasional "good" or "unpredictable" playcalling against poor to terrible teams.

fact:

no steeler fan in their right mind trusts arians

I liked the game plan last week, but I am a arians hater. Let Ben run the no huddle, not up tempo, depending on opponent

I'm an Arians hater too, . . . .

but there have been changes for the better in the last few weeks, it has given us hope, even against the Jets there was improvement to be seen.

the trust still isn't there, but . . . .

let's put it this way, if the Arains led offense leads us to a Superbowl victory, we can bid him farewell with a cheery wave and a smile, as he's sure to retire then!

HELP!!

Noone wants him.. We cant fire him... He has no contract to terminate. so that means he is a cheap pick up for any other team.. but they dont want him, noone has requested permission to speak with him... so... i would assume he is no longer in the steelers plans either. that fichtner conspiracy idea is good too as a plan B to help your addiction...

go with that... :yellowthumb:

HELP!!

"Hi Kevin." First, don't be too hard on yourself. Second, we have a two-step program here you may be interested in:

1. Show BA the door.
2. Replace him with anyone who realizes that the O line can't consistently pass block for more than a few seconds and some quick passes in the play book are a good thing and not just to be the result of an audible at the line.

This two-step program has been succesful in cities across the USA, but it requires the OC to honestly look within and admit there is a problem (or some type of intervention from those who wish to no longer enable the addict). This is the true start of recovery.

Under the circumstances, your inability to kick your habit is totally understandable and justifiable. For you to do otherwise would make you an enabler and would not be good for the OC truly in need of help.

you know what i like about this site? BA bashing is excepted here! i've been to other sites where you are lambasted for having concerns over the play calling and scheme. and you can't even discuss it with others...as soon as you say BA sucks they are there to defend him for this reason or that reason.

BA sucks. any chance we can get that has a "mood"?

how can a steeler fan kick another steeler fan for trying to make a positive comment?

there are some lame boards out there... homer fan boards... with no vision.

i currently see BA with no contract.. im sticking with that. since he cant be fired....

if he didnt suck he would have had a contract extension already last year...

We keep it real :yellowthumb:

I do realize that the Browns aren't exactly a top team, but the Ravens sure did let them hang around for a while in week 16, and they also sure as hell did not score more than 40 points. AND their starters were in for the entire game. There is something to be said for the crazy good offense that was run during the Browns game. Maybe BA suddenly got better (:dunno:), maybe someone else is starting to take over the playcalls. I don't really care to be honest. I just hope they take that into the playoffs.

This is exactly why I joined this forum. Others that cannot look at our team objectively drive me nuts. The old "if he sucks so bad how did we win a SB with him" line makes me want to :banging: Any time a team can get better they should and the quickest way for the Steelers to get much much better is to show BA the door.
