Rashard Mendenhall became the first running back to lead the Steelers in scoring since Franco Harris scored 66 points on 11 touchdowns in 1977. Mendenhall scored 78 points on 13 touchdowns, one touchdown short of Harris' team record. He's the second non-kicker to lead the team in scoring since 1977. Hines Ward led them with 78 points on 12 touchdown catches in 2002, the last season before this one in which the Steelers had two kickers.

pretty sure willie parker has the team TD record considering in 06 he had 13 rushing and 3 receiving TDs

16TD x 6 pts= 96 points

Mendenhall may not get as many yards per game rushing as we'd all like but when he gets near the endzone he's got a knack for finding his way in.

I like the combination of Mendy running behind Legursky on the goalline. Hard to stop (lately) and really sells play action.

Legursky has been playing FB in that jumbo type short yardage package for awhile now, I think it's a good combination too. It's amazing what you can do when you have a FB in the offense. I think honestly, the lack of a running game again this year mainly the last half of the season, would be the ultimate demise if of Arians if he is let go.

Mendenhall has 1,273 yds rushing this year. Nothing to sneeze at by any means, but there were many games this year where he had 40, 50, 60 yds rushing and I know the Rooney's want more emphasis on the run game. All those yards he's made this year, Rashard has earned every single one of them. How many times have seen him dragging defenders with him, pushing the pile, juking defenders to gain a few more yards. Perhaps you can blame it on the make shift OL this year, perhaps not.

Just putting it out there...

I still miss Bettis and the destruction he induced in short yardage situations. Mendenhall is certainly talented, but bruisers rule in the AFC north.

Arians is all about the long ball..

When BA leaves.. We will start to see a FB and a run game with play action.
Dwyers, Redman, Mendy, Moore, Summers.... We have a good line up. They just need a game plan.

For some reason Summers is still here?? Oh.. he has a contract... BA dont...

Between the 20's, Arians play calling is not that bad. He's improved greatly over the year in the area. The problem is that when you don't have a FB in your offense and you get in the redzone, it is MUCH harder to run. So you have to use substitute offensive lineman or TE to play FB. So if you're going to have one in the redzone and short yardage, then why not have one between the 20's and keep your options open more?
